Chapter 15 - The Battle

Chapter Fifteen: The Battle

The girls stared at each other, communicating through their eyes. The bond between them had grown stronger, and at times, no words were needed. Their shared purpose was clear, and they moved forward with resolve—determined to save their village, no matter the cost.

As they marched, their faces were set with determination, each step brimming with the same thought: save their people, even if it meant sacrificing their own lives. Destroying the Shrouded One would be worth it, as long as he would be gone forever.

With that resolve, they moved towards him.

"We will never bow to you, or anyone," Elara declared, her voice steady as she stared the Shrouded One down, unflinching. His beasts circled around him, but she stood tall, unafraid.

The Shrouded One's red eyes glowed with an eerie light as he spoke. "Very well then. You have made your choice. Is that your choice as Well?" His smile was chilling, his once-serious demeanor now twisted with cruel amusement.

Ariella sneered, her voice full of defiance. "Do you think I'd be standing here if I meant to bow before you?"

"Very well," the Shrouded One sneered, snapping his fingers. Suddenly, a strong wind howled from all directions, its purpose clear—to engulf the girls.

For a moment, they were startled, their bodies lifted from the ground as if weightless. But before they could react, the Shrouded One raised his hands, and they were thrown into the air, heading towards a jagged tree trunk that would pierce them through their hearts, ending their lives instantly.

"Two tiny girls," the Shrouded One muttered coldly, his voice dripping with disdain. "I need not waste much time with you when I can easily end your little lives and move on with my mission."

His eyes flashed with cruel amusement. "You're lucky. You'll die in my hands. And before you ask why, I'll give you an answer. It's because of the two old fools who gave you this task. They even gave you the stones. Because of them, I shall end this here and now. You would have made a delicious meal for my brothers, but I'll spare them this pleasure."
