Chapter 17 - 17. I, the Big Cannon Brother, am back again

Wan Zilong walked alone in the night, the scabbard of the samurai sword shone coldly in the moonlight. His eyes were cold and his steps were steady, as if everything was under his control. However, just as he turned into an alley, a golden figure suddenly appeared in front of him. The man was wearing a cassock, with a Buddha's light on his head and a kind face, just like the Buddha. He put his hands together, and his voice echoed in the night sky like a bell: "Donor, why are you going alone? Why don't you discuss Buddhism with me and seek the path of light together."

Wan Zilong frowned, the green light in his eyepiece flickered, and the samurai sword in his hand was slightly unsheathed, with a bit of vigilance in his tone: "Who are you? Why are you stopping me?"

The Buddha smiled slightly, with a bit of compassion in his voice: "I am the Buddha. Seeing that the donor has doubts in his heart, I have come to solve the doubts for the donor."

Wan Zilong snorted coldly, with a bit of disdain in his tone: "Buddha? I don't believe in ghosts and gods, and I don't need anyone's guidance." After that, he continued to walk, and it seemed that he didn't intend to pay attention to the weirdo in front of him.

The Buddha still stood there, with a bit of admonition in his voice: "Donor, put down your arrogance, and you can see your true heart. Although the Peace Star can give you power, it may also make you lose yourself."

Wan Zilong's footsteps paused slightly, and the green light in the eyepiece flashed, and his tone was a bit impatient: "What do you want to say?"

The Buddha waved his hand gently, and a picture suddenly appeared behind him, which was the scene of Wan Zilong fighting with the cockroach bully. There was a bit of deep meaning in his voice: "Donor, although the power is strong, if you don't know how to restrain yourself, it will eventually backfire on yourself. It's better to hand over the Peace Star to me, and I will guide you on a bright road."

Wan Zilong's eyes turned cold, and the samurai sword was unsheathed again, the blade pointed directly at the Buddha, and his tone was a bit sharp: "So that's it, you are also coming for the Peace Star. Then don't blame me for being rude!"

Just as he was about to launch an attack, the Buddha's face suddenly changed.

Damn, one minute is up, my giant cannon brother doesn't want one minute!

The Buddha's figure instantly turned into a golden light and disappeared in the night sky.

Maruzilong's blade hit nothing, and his feet staggered slightly, with the green light in his eyepiece flickering. He stood there, his face gloomy, and the samurai sword in his hand trembled slightly, obviously surprised by the sudden disappearance of the Buddha. He snorted coldly, and the knife light drew an arc in the air, and then retracted the scabbard, with a bit of disdain in his tone: "Pretending to be a ghost, it's just like this."

The night around was still silent, with only a slight mechanical sound coming from a distance. Maruzilong looked up at the sky, and the green light in the eyepiece gradually subsided. He took a deep breath, and the leg thrusters sprayed slightly, and his body flew forward like an arrow from a string. The scenery on both sides of the road quickly retreated, blurring into a piece of light and shadow in his eyes, as if the whole world was left behind him.

Not long after, a pawn shop came into view. The sign of the pawn shop read "Amitabha House", and the lights were dim, making it look particularly quiet. Maruzilong stopped, his eyepiece flickered slightly, as if he was judging something. His fingers gently stroked the scabbard, and he walked into the pawn shop steadily.

The light in the pawn shop was a little dim, and the air was filled with an old woody smell, mixed with some indescribable spice. Behind the counter sat a fat middle-aged man, wearing a pair of sunglasses, a floral shirt, and a cigar in his mouth, blowing smoke rings leisurely. His fingers were stubby, and his nails were painted with shiny transparent nail polish, which looked out of place with his image. Maruzilong's eyes stayed on him for a moment, and then he spoke in a low and direct voice: "I want to apply for the position of guard captain, I can protect the safety of your pawn shop."

The boss looked Maruzilong up and down, and his eyes under the sunglasses were a bit lazy and disdainful. He slowly exhaled a puff of smoke, and the smoke rings slowly dissipated in the air. His tone was a bit perfunctory: "My guest, our pawn shop is not a place where anyone can come in. Why do you think you are qualified?"

Wan Zilong did not answer immediately. His fingers tapped lightly on the scabbard, making a slight metallic sound. He looked through the sunglasses and looked directly into the boss's eyes. His tone was calm but with some unquestionable power: "With my sword and my strength." As he said, he flipped his right hand lightly, and the samurai sword was instantly unsheathed. The blade flashed a cold light under the dim light, as if it could split the air in the next second.

The boss's expression gradually changed from shock to complexity. He took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of cunning eyes, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly: "Interesting, really interesting. Okay, from today on, you are the captain of the guard of our pawn shop."

Wan Zilong nodded, tapping his fingers lightly on the scabbard, making a slight metallic sound. He turned and walked towards the door of the pawnshop, with steady steps, as if everything was under his control.

The boss looked at his back, a meaningful light flashed in his eyes, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and he murmured in a low voice: "This guy, looks interesting..."

The boss took out a badge with the pawnshop logo from under the counter and threw it to Wan Zilong: "This is your ID, don't lose it."

Wan Zilong caught the badge, took a look, and pinned it on his chest. He tilted his head slightly and asked in a calm tone: "What is my responsibility?"

The boss put on his sunglasses again, took a deep puff of cigar, and exhaled a cloud of smoke: "Protect the safety of the pawnshop and prevent any theft. Of course, there are some other miscellaneous tasks, I will keep you informed." He paused and added: "The salary is settled once a week, the amount is considerable, enough for you to buy a lot of new equipment."

Wan Zilong's mechanical eyes flickered, as if calculating something. "I understand." He answered concisely.

The boss came out from behind the counter and patted Wan Zilong on the shoulder, with a huge gold ring on his finger glittering: "Work hard, I'm counting on you."

Wan Zilong didn't respond, but just nodded slightly and glanced around the inside of the pawnshop. Under the dim light, a dazzling array of antique ornaments reflected the light in the glass cabinet, and the air was filled with a faint scent of sandalwood.
