Chapter 10 - Lurking

'Bam!

Yahui's head is held back by her hair. Those people seemed to not have had enough of the punching and kicking yet. She was being thrown at all sorts of sharp objects, jabbing her bones and injuring her.

Her lips were bleeding from all of the cuts inside of her mouth. They had punched her so hard that her teeth had cut into her cheeks. This time she was unsure of how long it'll take for her body to heal.

Yahui felt something flowing down her nose all the way to her chin. The group of guys in the circle laughed as they saw this. Yahui's body began to consciously gag as if she was going to throw up.

Huang Chin, who was approaching her, stopped in his place, taking a couple of steps back. The people followed suit afraid that she might throw up on them. All it took was something as stupid as throwing up for them to back away.

"Ha...hahhaahha."

At that moment, she lunged upward, throwing a barrage of punches at Huang Chin. The other people gathered around the two of them, began pulling them apart. If Yahui was going to throw up, she'd make sure it would be on him.

Once pulled apart, Huang Chin was bleeding as well. She could see the anger in his eyes yet he was hesitating to do anything. But it wasn't because he was scared of her, if he was, that anger in his eyes would be fear.

She realized how much energy she had truly used to punch Huang Chin. Her breaths were loud and long. She tilts her head down, lifting up her hands.

-

Yeline glanced down at her trembling hands. These past few days her body had been shaking nonstop. It was like it was traumatized and couldn't help itself.

That incident most likely caused her body to act like this. She had thought of retaliation but she had to take in consideration what repercussions she could face from doing so.

These people all came from a much better economic situation than her. With a much better family background than her, if she were to retaliate, she would surely be the one most harmed.

"Ahem."

Yeline turns around and finds a young man whom she almost mistook for a girl. His face was rather feminine as well as his voice.

"Ah. Sorry."

She stepped out of the way as the young man opened the door and smiled brightly. He was adorning a light blue outfit with a symbol that seemed so familiar to her.

"Shi Xing! Why didn't you send me a letter?"

Yeline tilts her head. Shi Xing? This name was ringing a bell in her head that she couldn't figure out.

"E'huang?"

A hand slowly reached out towards the reddest part of the pool of water. Regardless of how far she reached, the body continued to flow farther from her.

He kicks at her hand while fanning himself. With such a beautiful outfit on, he didn't bother to touch the girl with his body but rather the bottom of his shoes.

"Xing'er, why would you-."

Shi Xing slowly removed the bracelet from his hand, revealing a bright red fleshy scar on his wrist. Jin E'huang's face slowly turns sour as she realized what it meant.

"How could you?"

Shi Xing laughs at the girl and bends down to her level, looking her in the eye. He whispers something unknown and gets up to walk away in a happy attitude.

Her eyes widened as she realized why the name was so familiar. Shi Xing was an important supporting character.

He was the left hand man of Xu Feng, a character that helped with the downfall of the Yānchén Empire. They were part of the antagonist team.

Not only that, Shi Xing betrayed most of his comrades, selling away their secrets. Gaining money and power from doing so, his greed for more blinded his morality.

These kinds of characters are hateful because they are predictable in a bad way. That interaction they just had was already enough to scare her.

She should get out of here as fast as possible. She had no clue as to why such a character would be meeting a teacher here but she could only believe it wasn't for good.

Yeline stepped back and began making her way out of the teacher's hall. Originally she was here to report the behaviors of her classmate. There most likely wasn't a place designated for reporting harassment but she wanted to try it out first.

When she thought hard enough about it, everything seemed ridiculous. The level of the harassment she faced was beyond scary and harmful.

But thinking back to the events, would the teacher cared? The whole classroom was doing nothing when she was being bullied.

And such extreme ways of bullying should have been found out by now by someone. Especially by someone that is always in the classroom with the students.

She sighed to herself and stopped in the hall. If she makes a left turn, she can go to the classroom and start the day. She can also make a right turn and leave the school.

"Yeah."

She turns to the right and speedwalks through the hall. With bullies as classmates and an antagonist here, she surely didn't want to stay any longer.

They were all signs of bad luck and she claimed none of those. She closed her eyes and asked for good luck from all of the gods.

In the next seconds, she hears the familiar voice of Huang Chin. One that was so arrogantly annoying that it pierced through her eardrums and into her head.

"Put those back!"

She quickly hides behind a pillar, covering herself fully from being seen. As the footsteps approached her, she kept herself quiet and still. Her eyes followed the noises of the footsteps that gradually disappeared.

Heaving a sigh of relief, she keeps her ears open for any noise that could be approaching her. Hearing nothing, she checked around the pillar, making sure there was no one out there.

With a clear sign, she was about to step out when another group of people began screaming. Scared, she hid herself once more. This time, she stayed in her spot a little longer.

She muttered the words 'go away' several times in her head, hoping to manifest into reality. As soon as the group passes, she opens her eyes and dash out of the pillar.

But her feet stopped in place as her eyes widened. An awkward silence spread as the two just looked at each other. Yeline makes the first move and bows down.

He only stared at her, not responding or showing much of a reaction to her actions. She stopped bowing and looked over at the direction that his eyes had wandered over to.

"Xiang Fan!"

Behind her stood the teacher and Shi Xing. Xiang Fan bows, causing her to greet the two as well. Xiang Fan walked over to the group. He seemed to be quite acquainted with the man except for Shi Xing.

The two barely muttered a word to each other besides hello. Shi Xing had already walked off before Xiang Fan reached the teacher. Yeline made sure she kept her head low.

Despite this whole situation being unbelievable, she still feared for the unknown. Whatever happens now, if she somehow, even a little bit, gets involved, she'll surely be affected. Whether that be by death or not.

Waiting for the figure of Shi Xing to completely disappear, she doesn't stand there waiting for anything. Her feet quickly take her away from Xiang Fan and the teacher.

Xiang Fan turns his head, glancing at the figure of Yeline leaving. Yeline freezes in her spot.

"Where are you going? The classroom is this way, classmate."

Classroom

She glanced down at the papers in front of her. Today she was given a lot of work. Everyone's papers were stacked in a pile onto her desk.

At the very least, she was learning something while getting bullied. She makes up her mind and grabs her brush, gently dipping it into the ink. She's finished hers already.

It was only the matter of about 30 other people that she had to complete. As she reached down onto the paper, a hand slammed onto her desk, spilling the bottle of ink.

Splattered all over her outfit, she glanced upward at Huang Chin who was once more bothering her. The only one that ever got physical with the bullying was Huang Chin.

Each time he came over, he would make sure to snap his fingers at her as if she was some sort of dog. The ink bottle rolled down to the ground, creating a bang.

"Hey, if I asked you to drink the ink, would you do it?"

Yeline stared at the man in silence.

"Why are you glaring at me?"

She had thought long and hard about it. If she lets him bully her again, that was just her giving up. But at the same time, she didn't want to face repercussions.

When thinking back on it, she did retaliate with the guqin and yet there was no repercussions. She had thought Yahui was a bad person for gambling, but here she was going to take on a risky gamble.
