Cassia's POV
1 week after our meeting with Mr. Dixon and I've never heard about him again. I told Gina about what he did and she cancelled the deal with him.
Good thing I have a very understanding manager.
Since I didn't have any modelling project scheduled, I went to my other job. To my convenient, the Antique shop where I work to was just 10 minute walk from my apartment.
"I will leave the rest to you. We won't be coming back until next week so take care of the shop" Taylor, my boss told me. She was going to Hawaii with her husband for a vacation.
"Yes. Don't worry about anything. Enjoy your vacation" She smiled and hugged me before leaving me alone. The Antique shop was inherited by Taylor from her parents. It wasn't earning that much that's why I was the only employee she has.
She was working her ass off so that it won't go bankrupt. Since there was no customer, I brought out my phone and started browsing on my social media account. I was so engrossed on it that I didn't even notice the person who was standing in front of me.
"This is a nice place. It's at the center of the city.
This would be a nice place to build a mall or even a hotel" The person said. I looked up at him and my very nice day got ruined in an instant.
"What do you want?" I asked him coldly and put down my phone
"I came to remind you of our deal" He said full of confidence as he casually inspects the items in front of him.
"What deal are you talking about?" I feigned ignorance as took my phone again and pretended to type something on it.
"Pretend as much as you like. Anyway, I will give you 3 days to give me your decision"
"Whatever! I already told you my answer which is NO!" I said angrily. The nerve of this man! Instead of getting angry, he just smirked at me.
"Let's see about that sweetie. I always get what I want you know. Anyway, this is my number. Call me" He said and gave me a business card then turned his back but not before giving me a wink which made me more irritated. I looked at his back while walking then suddenly a realization hit me.
The way he walks reminded me of someone....I shook my head. No! He is a devil. He is definitely different from Dante. He doesn't even compare.
I looked at the business card he gave me. Axel Dixon, CEO of Dixon Enterprise, Inc.
Another two days have passed since Axel came to my work. I was in the shop eating my lunch when a nurse at the hospital called.
"Hello Ms. Greene, you need to come here right now. Your mother is in a critical condition" I almost dropped my phone of what she told me. I quickly closed my lunch box and soon, closed the shop. Since the hospital was just in a walking distance, I didn't bring my car. I ran towards the hospital while crying. Negative thoughts were on my mind but I tried my best to ignore it. When I reached the hospital, a nurse told me that my mom was in the ICU and a doctor was trying to revive her. My body was shaking in fear, fear of losing my mom. My eyes were already puffy and red. After minutes of waiting, the doctor went out. I quickly approached him.
"Ms. Greene, we really need to operate your mom as soon as possible. Her heart is giving up. At this rate, she will die. You only have 3 days to gather the amount or find a donor.
Later than that, I can't promise you anything. Her body might surrender" He said with a concern in his voice. He patted me on my shoulder before leaving me there, standing helplessly.
After hours of contacting my friends and relatives for help, I managed to accumulate $5,000. Not even close to the amount I needed. I even went to every foundation and non-government organization for help but there were a long line of hopeful people to be given the chance to have financial help and organ donor. I was losing hope even though I didn't want to. I went home directly after my hopeless seek of some help. I was already in bed when my phone rang. It was Gina.
"I think we need to find another job soon" She said.
I sat up in shock.
"Why? Is there a problem with the agency?"
"Mr. Black told me months ago that the agency wasn't incoming anymore because there aren't many models who have projects.
You're basically the top earner in the agency.
Well, it's just a small agency to begin with.
Anyway, Mr. Black told me that someone was offering him to buy because they were interested with its location" My lips parted, unable to say anything. I raked my hand through my hair in frustration.
"But the interesting thing is, it's Mr. Dixon who plans to buy it and looked like he offered a great deal to Mr. Black because he seemed to be in a good mood when I talked to him" My blood boiled in anger instantly upon hearing it. So he's going to resort in this kind of trick! What a lowlife! After talking with Gina, I lied on my bed but sleep seemed so far away.
I was surprised when I saw Taylor with her husband James in the shop the next day. The look on their faces told me that they had a bad news.
"What happened? I thought you're in Hawaii?" I asked them. They looked into each other before Taylor spoke.
"Cassia, somebody offered me to be my business partner in order for the shop not go bankrupt. But he has one condition" She said while looking at me with guilty looking face. She bit her lip before continuing.
"What's his condition?"
"He wants me to fire you" I gasped in shock.
"Why is that? Who's this guy anyway?" I asked her exasperatedly.
"Mr. Axel Dixon" Upon hearing the name, I stormed out of the shop and got in my car. I drove for at least 30 minutes to reach my destination. I parked my car in the parking space of the Dixon Enterprise.
