Chapter 21 - Like Always

And like always, they stayed on the phone, their voices filling the empty spaces of the night, until their O2 SIM did its job, cutting the call at exactly two hours.

And in that moment, even after all the pain, all the misunderstandings, they found comfort in each other again. ❤️

That's the real question, isn't it?

That was the thing about them. No matter how much they fought, no matter how many times they threatened to walk away, they always came back. It was like a pull neither of them could resist a force stronger than their anger, stronger than their doubts.

But was it love? Or just a habit they couldn't shake?

Somi had told D everything she felt was important. Yet, he wanted more. He wanted details, clarity, reassurances—proof that she wasn't hiding anything. But what if there was nothing more to tell?

What if the real issue wasn't what she said or didn't say, but whether he could ever truly believe her?

Because trust wasn't about knowing every detail of someone's past. It was about accepting that their past didn't change who they were now.

And maybe, just maybe, that was what D couldn't do. 💭💔

The day that had once felt like a lost celebration was now something to look forward to. What had started as a quiet acceptance of a Dashain without D was slowly transforming into an unexpected adventure, one that had a spark of excitement hidden in its folds.

Somi had been eagerly anticipating celebrating Dashain with D, envisioning a day filled with laughter, food, and the warmth of their shared moments. She had been excited to meet his relatives, to be included in the circle that meant so much to him. It felt like a subtle but significant step, an unspoken promise that maybe, just maybe, their relationship was moving toward something more serious.

But life, as it often does, had other plans.

When D explained that his relatives had invited him to come the night before for blessings, meaning he would be away on the actual day of Dashain, Somi's heart sank. She understood, of course. Family came first, and Dashain was about honoring elders and traditions—she knew he couldn't say no. But the disappointment was still hard to ignore. She had imagined a day spent together, building memories and sharing in the joy of the festival. Now, she was faced with the reality of spending the biggest holiday of the year without him.

"At least we'll still meet on Dashain day, right?" she asked, her voice tinged with a quiet hope.

D hesitated. "I'll try my best," he said, but the way his words trailed off left her feeling like something was already slipping away.

She forced a smile, the corners of her lips trembling with the effort. "Okay," she whispered, though deep down, it didn't feel okay at all. 💔

The days that followed were filled with a quiet sadness. Somi kept herself busy, trying to shake the nagging feeling of loneliness. It seemed like Dashain would pass by without the person she had imagined sharing it with. But just when she had begun to accept the situation, an unexpected twist came.

D called again, and this time his voice was softer, warmer. "Will you join me at the location? I'll be there as soon as possible."

Somi blinked in surprise, the weight of his words sinking in slowly. "Really?"

"Yes," he assured her, his voice filled with sincerity. "Take the day off. Let's spend it together."
