Chapter 12 - The Dismembered Woman

After opening the storage room door, Chi Mu walked straight inside.

Qin Jianghe and the other viewers all expected Chi Mu to die instantly, but he stood there unharmed.

"What? Rule 4 is wrong?!"

Qin Jianghe jumped up, slapping the table in shock.

— "Holy shit! Rule 4 is wrong! No wonder Chi Mu walked into the storage room so calmly—he must have already known this rule was false!"

— "As expected, Chi Mu is always right! He's just too awesome!"

At that moment, Qin Jianghe finally understood what made Chi Mu special. It wasn't just his calm demeanor or sharp analytical skills—it was his uncanny ability to spot the false rule from the list!

Chi Mu could instantly see through multiple rules and identify the faulty one.

He had surpassed even big data analysis—that was pure talent!

Later, by chance, Chi Mu overheard a researcher praising him with those exact words, and he nearly laughed out loud.

"I don't have any talent. I'm not sensitive to false rules. It's all because the system told me..."

Of course, Chi Mu only thought that to himself.

Back to the scene from Chi Mu's perspective—

He wasn't overly excited after opening the door. He already knew from the system that Rule 4 was wrong, so no surprise there.

What he saw in the storage room, however, shocked and weighed heavily on him.

There, hanging by a rope from the ceiling, was the male cleaner he had seen earlier that morning. His eyes rolled back, tongue hanging out lifelessly.

He was clearly hanged to death.

— "?? Why is the male cleaner hanging himself? Wasn't he the suspect?"

— "Maybe he found out Chi Mu was investigating him and killed himself out of guilt."

— "Hey, upstairs! Think before you speak. If the killer killed himself, what's the point of this whole ordeal? Clearly, the male cleaner is not the real culprit!"

Suppressing his fear of the dead man, Chi Mu used his phone flashlight to rummage through the pitch-black storage room for clues.

He had already confirmed the storage room was the source of the contamination. Wherever contamination appeared, something had to be causing it.

The room was dark and cluttered, mostly cleaning supplies.

What caught Chi Mu's attention was a wig in a cleaning bucket—too realistic to be just a fake wig, yet not quite natural.

After searching further, Chi Mu discovered a large suitcase in the corner, emitting a terrible stench.

"Should I open it? Damn..."

He wrestled with himself but knew he needed clues. Gritting his teeth, he opened the suitcase.

What he saw stunned him so much he collapsed onto the floor, stomach churning violently as he clutched a nearby trash bin and vomited.

— "Ah! My eyes! What the hell did I just see..."

— "This is insane! The body is dismembered—and all packed inside this suitcase! I'm going crazy!"

— "What kind of twisted mind could do something like this?!"

Yes, inside the suitcase was a dismembered woman's corpse. The head rolled out and landed at Chi Mu's feet as he opened it.

The scene was gruesome, horrifying beyond words...

Chi Mu nearly emptied his stomach. After all, he was just an ordinary junior college student—he'd never witnessed anything like this.

He staggered up and fled back to his room in a panic.

In the bathroom, Yang Qu was still showering; the faint sound of running water somehow calmed Chi Mu a bit. Compared to the hanged cleaner and the dismembered body, Yang Qu was a soothing presence.

Chi Mu slapped himself twice, forcing his mind to clear.

Originally, he had been certain the male cleaner was the killer. He had planned to confront him in the storage room and pressure him to reveal the motive, finally uncovering the truth.

But now, with the cleaner hanging dead and a dismembered woman in the suitcase, everything had changed.

Chi Mu was sure the dismembered woman was A-Jiu's mother—and she was the true source of the contamination in the storage room!

"But if the male cleaner isn't the killer, then the only suspect left is the front desk clerk."

"But why would he kill the male cleaner?"

"If A-Jiu is a ghost, where is her corpse?"

Frowning deeply, Chi Mu realized all his assumptions were wrong—though every sign pointed to the male cleaner as the culprit, he was now dead.

Chi Mu felt like he had missed something crucial, causing his judgment to fail.

[Rule 5: The storage room is where the hotel's cleaning staff store supplies. There are two cleaners on the ninth floor. One called in sick a week ago and hasn't returned, leaving only one cleaner currently employed.]

Chi Mu recalled this Rule 5 and had already doubted it.

It said the male cleaner hadn't come to work for a week—so who was the middle-aged man he saw in the storage room?

This rule had to be wrong!

[Ding! Hostile has identified Rule 5 in Sequence Three as incorrect.]

[Hostile's judgment is wrong. This rule is correct. No reward granted.]

[Warning: Multiple wrong judgments will reduce your chances of receiving hints about false rules.]

Chi Mu was stunned—Rule 5 was actually correct?

If so, the hanged man in the storage room wasn't the male cleaner mentioned in the rules at all?!

Chi Mu felt like his CPU was overheating.

In the end, he decided to dig into the wall and find the corporate boss's corpse to get new clues.

He quickly unearthed the fat body, confirming it was indeed the missing corporate boss.

The killer had hidden the body inside the wall, building a new one over it. Only a cleaning staff who entered daily to tidy the room could have done this.

[Congratulations to Dragon Nation's chosen one, Chi Mu!]

[You have found the key corpse. Deduce his true cause of death and escape the hotel to complete the SS-rank mission.]

"Fuck! That's it for the hint?!"

Chi Mu wanted to curse out the entire advisory team. He had expected a crucial lead but got just two vague sentences.

Risking everything to dig out the body, only to receive such a lame hint—he was almost furious enough to faint.

At that moment, Yang Qu finished her shower and stepped out, drying her hair.

Watching her, Chi Mu suddenly connected the dots and dashed out crazily.

When he returned to the storage room, just as he suspected—the hanged cleaner's body was gone, and so was A-Jiu's mother's dismembered corpse...
