The sound was so real and crunchy that it immediately rose all danger bells in her head. It was loud enough to cut through every other noise around them, sending a violent shiver down her spine as her stomach twisted uneasily. The sickening crack echoed through the air and lingered in her ears long after it had ended.
What was worse was the warm splatter of drops that had reached to her face while her blurry eyes could only see Somnus who once had a head then missed what was supposed to rest on his neck before it tilted and fell down to the ground. His body remained standing for a brief moment as if it had not yet realized what had happened before slowly collapsing.
