Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 – The Founders’ Dream

Godric Gryffindor was astonishingly handsome.

Long golden hair flowed behind him, his features were sharp and heroic, and his confident grin radiated the energy of someone who could charge into battle barehanded and somehow still win.

In short, he looked exactly like the kind of radiant young hero bards would sing about for centuries.

Unfortunately…

He also seemed slightly stupid.

The moment Gryffindor spotted Salazar Slytherin, his eyes lit up instantly.

"Salazar!"

Without hesitation, Gryffindor strode forward and wrapped Slytherin in an enormous enthusiastic hug.

"Merlin's beard, where have you been?" Gryffindor laughed loudly. "You disappeared with Rowena for days! I couldn't find you anywhere."

Then, horrifyingly, he tightened the embrace even further.

"I missed you!"

Logan stood nearby in complete silence.

The atmosphere suddenly became strangely philosophical.

Slytherin's appearance already leaned heavily toward elegant beauty rather than masculine ruggedness. Combined with Gryffindor's overly passionate behaviour, the entire scene radiated deeply suspicious energy.

Slytherin's face darkened instantly.

"Godric," he said coldly, prying himself free by force, "how many times must I explain this?"

He adjusted his robes furiously.

"Our relationship is not that close."

Then he pointed angrily toward the nearby women.

"And stop embarrassing me in front of these two beautiful ladies!"

Gryffindor dismissed the complaint entirely.

Clearly, he believed this was merely another example of Slytherin refusing to express his true emotions honestly.

After all—

They had fought side by side.

Travelled together.

Bled together.

Even slept beside campfires during dangerous journeys.

From Gryffindor's perspective, a warm hug between brothers was completely natural.

Honestly, he probably wouldn't even find sharing a bed while chatting all night remotely strange either.

Nearby, Helga Hufflepuff chuckled warmly.

"You two only spent a few days apart," she teased, "yet you're acting like tragic lovers reunited after years."

The moment she finished speaking, Slytherin looked ready to commit murder.

Fortunately, Rowena Ravenclaw intervened before things escalated into magical homicide.

"Enough," she interrupted smoothly.

Then she clapped her hands once to regain everyone's attention.

"Now listen carefully. Since three out of four founders have already agreed, the magical school known as Hogwarts will absolutely be built beside the Black Lake beneath the cliffs."

Her eyes shifted deliberately toward Slytherin.

"And nobody is changing that."

Slytherin immediately realised he was being targeted personally.

He looked vaguely wronged.

Honestly, he had never cared much about the castle's location in the first place. Most of his earlier arguments had simply been excuses to provoke Rowena for entertainment.

Unfortunately, nobody believed him.

Ravenclaw continued speaking proudly.

"I've already contacted several talented witches and wizards interested in teaching once the school is completed."

She crossed her arms confidently.

"The goblins are also delivering construction materials within the next few days, along with workers to help begin the building process."

Then her expression softened slightly.

"We'll build Hogwarts together."

For a brief moment, the usual arguments and teasing faded entirely.

Even Slytherin fell silent.

Because beneath all their disagreements, this dream truly mattered to them.

The world during this era was cruel toward magic.

Witches and wizards lived in hiding, constantly feared, hated, or hunted by ordinary people who couldn't understand them.

The four founders wanted to change that.

They wanted magical children to grow up safely.

To learn properly.

To stop living in fear.

That shared dream was what united them.

To make Hogwarts possible, every founder had sacrificed enormously.

Salazar had secretly stolen most of his family's fortune.

Helga had emptied years of savings earned from working magical kitchens.

Rowena contributed nearly everything she owned.

And Godric apparently funded his share through underground duelling tournaments.

Honestly, Logan wasn't even surprised anymore.

Looking toward the distant cliffs overlooking the Black Lake, Slytherin suddenly smiled faintly.

"Hogwarts…" he murmured quietly.

"From now on, this place will be home."

The atmosphere briefly became unexpectedly emotional.

Meanwhile, Logan stood nearby feeling increasingly awkward.

Originally, he only intended to inspect a memory fragment for clues.

Instead, he somehow ended up spectating the founders' entire interpersonal drama.

More importantly—

How exactly was he supposed to leave?

Was he trapped here forever?

Would he have to accompany the four founders through their entire lives until they eventually died of old age?

The thought nearly gave him psychological damage.

And another terrifying question soon followed.

Did time pass differently inside the memory fragment?

If several years passed here while only seconds passed outside, maybe it was manageable.

But if time flowed equally…

Then by the time Logan escaped, Hermione would probably already be planning his funeral.

Fortunately, before his anxiety spiralled further, the world around him suddenly distorted violently.

The surrounding scenery blurred and accelerated like a fast-forwarding film reel.

Forests flashed past.

Construction scenes appeared briefly.

Massive stone walls rose rapidly toward the sky.

Then—

Everything stabilised once more.

Logan found himself standing inside a familiar castle corridor.

Hogwarts.

Though older and less refined than the version he knew, the architecture remained unmistakable.

Apparently, the memory fragment had skipped the boring construction process entirely.

Which probably meant the next events were important.

Just then, familiar voices echoed nearby again.

"Are you sure this is wise?"

It was Gryffindor.

Logan quietly followed the sound and soon discovered Godric walking beside Rowena through the unfinished castle halls.

"Our original purpose was creating a sanctuary for magical children," Gryffindor continued carefully. "But if Hogwarts accepts Muggle-born students too…"

He hesitated.

"Salazar won't react well."

Ravenclaw immediately looked at him as though he were an idiot.

"Won't react well?" she repeated flatly.

"If we establish that rule, Salazar will absolutely lose his mind."

Fair point.

Then Rowena folded her arms.

"So what exactly are your thoughts, Godric?"

Gryffindor stopped walking.

After several seconds of silence, his expression became unexpectedly serious.

"I understand why Salazar hates the non-magical world," he admitted quietly. "People fear what they don't understand. Wizards suffer because of that fear every day."

Then he looked toward the unfinished halls of Hogwarts.

"But if hatred continues growing between both sides, the divide will only become worse."

His voice grew firmer.

"If Hogwarts accepts Muggle-born children, perhaps future generations won't repeat the same mistakes forever."

A thoughtful silence settled between them.
