Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – The Rift Between the Founders

After hearing Gryffindor's answer, Rowena Ravenclaw blinked her star-like eyes in visible surprise.

Then she smiled.

"I didn't expect you to think that far ahead," she admitted. "I always assumed you were just a muscle-brained idiot obsessed with magical duels."

Godric Gryffindor instantly scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

Actually receiving praise from Rowena was an extremely rare event.

Among the four founders, Ravenclaw was by far the proudest and sharpest-tongued. She spent most of her time mocking people's intelligence rather than complimenting them.

As a result, Gryffindor immediately looked embarrassingly pleased.

Honestly, he resembled a giant golden retriever receiving affection for the first time in weeks.

Nearby, Helga Hufflepuff quietly smiled while watching them.

Meanwhile, Ravenclaw continued confidently.

"Hufflepuff supports accepting Muggle-born students. You support it as well."

Then she crossed her arms triumphantly.

"And naturally, I support it too."

Her expression practically screamed victory already.

"So even if Salazar disagrees, the outcome is decided. Three votes against one."

Clearly, Ravenclaw considered the matter completely settled.

After all, throughout most of their history together, Salazar Slytherin consistently lost arguments against her.

John—no, Logan—stood nearby observing everything silently.

Honestly…

The emotional relationships inside this group were becoming increasingly confusing.

As an outsider, Logan could see things far more clearly than the founders themselves.

Rowena clearly shared some complicated emotional tension with Gryffindor.

Gryffindor possessed an alarmingly intimate relationship with Slytherin.

And Slytherin himself seemed hopelessly devoted to Ravenclaw despite constantly arguing with her.

As for Hufflepuff…

Logan genuinely had no idea what she was thinking.

This entire memory fragment increasingly resembled some catastrophically messy magical romance drama.

At this point, Logan still had no clue what exactly the system wanted him to learn from all this.

Surely the hidden secret of Hogwarts wasn't just emotional relationship chaos among the founders.

Right?

Still…

If Logan remembered correctly, Salazar Slytherin eventually abandoned Hogwarts after violently disagreeing with the others over admitting Muggle-born students.

And before leaving, he created the Chamber of Secrets.

Which later nearly got everyone killed.

So clearly, the issue eventually became extremely serious.

As though responding to Logan's thoughts, the world around him suddenly accelerated once more.

The surrounding scenery blurred rapidly.

Moments later, the memory stabilised again inside a different room.

Only two figures remained there now.

Rowena Ravenclaw.

And Salazar Slytherin.

The atmosphere between them felt painfully tense.

Slytherin slammed both hands onto the table furiously.

"Why?"

His voice shook with anger.

"Why would you make this decision?"

His normally calm expression had completely shattered.

"You know perfectly well how I feel about allowing non-magical families into Hogwarts."

Slytherin stared directly into Ravenclaw's eyes.

"Have you forgotten why we built this school in the first place?"

What upset him wasn't merely the decision itself.

It was the way Ravenclaw handled it.

Again.

Always the same.

She discussed things with everyone else first.

Then informed him afterward like an afterthought.

She always assumed he would oppose her automatically.

So rather than talking honestly with him, she convinced the others first and cornered him afterward using majority votes.

School name.

School location.

Important policies.

Every single time, Salazar learned he had "no choice" only after everyone else already agreed.

Yes, Slytherin disliked Muggles.

Yes, he believed strongly in pure-blood traditions.

But beneath all that…

What truly hurt him was something much simpler.

Ravenclaw never trusted him enough to speak openly first.

To him, that mattered more than the argument itself.

Logan quietly watched Slytherin's expression.

For perhaps the first time, the legendary founder genuinely looked wounded.

Meanwhile, Ravenclaw frowned slightly.

Clearly, this reaction exceeded even her expectations.

After a moment of thought, she sighed softly.

Perhaps believing logic was useless against emotions, she defaulted to her usual response.

"I'm doing this for your own good," she said calmly. "And for Hogwarts' future."

The moment those words left her mouth, something inside Slytherin visibly broke.

He laughed quietly.

A bitter laugh.

"Wonderful," he said softly.

"Everything is always for my own good."

Then he stepped backward toward the doorway.

"In that case…"

His red-rimmed eyes met hers one final time.

"I'll simply watch."

The anger inside him vanished completely.

"I'll quietly watch your future unfold."

Then Salazar Slytherin turned and walked out of the room.

As he passed through the doorway, he brushed directly past Logan.

And for one brief moment, Logan clearly saw the moisture gathered in the legendary wizard's eyes.

Apparently…

Even Dark Lords could suffer emotional damage.

Logan sighed internally.

This entire relationship network was unbelievably toxic.

.....

Later, Slytherin sat alone beside a marble pathway beneath a cloudy sky.

He looked exhausted.

Not furious.

Not hysterical.

Just… tired.

Occasionally, he glanced upward at the darkening heavens without speaking.

Logan quietly sat beside him despite knowing Slytherin couldn't see him.

After several moments, Logan instinctively muttered:

"Simps truly never prosper."

Honestly, Slytherin's current suffering was largely self-inflicted.

No devoted fool was entirely innocent.

Unfortunately, Logan couldn't actually speak with him or offer advice. He could only silently observe this emotionally devastated legendary wizard while questioning why the system had dragged him into centuries-old relationship drama.

Then suddenly—

"So this is where you were hiding."

A gentle female voice appeared behind them unexpectedly.

Logan jumped slightly.

When had she arrived?!

He turned instantly.

Helga Hufflepuff stood nearby smiling warmly.

Slytherin glanced toward her calmly.

"I noticed you earlier," he said quietly. "Back during the argument."

He leaned back against the bench.

"I taught you the Concealment Charm myself. Did you really think I wouldn't recognise it?"

Apparently, Hufflepuff had secretly hidden nearby listening to the argument the entire time.

"She only failed to notice because she was too distracted," Slytherin added softly, clearly referring to Ravenclaw.

Hufflepuff sighed helplessly before sitting beside him.

"What could I do?" she replied honestly. "I'm terrible at dealing with situations like this."

Then she raised both hands defensively.

"And before you accuse me of spying, I wasn't eavesdropping intentionally."

Her expression became slightly embarrassed.

"I was researching magical food enchantments in that room before you two barged in and started arguing."

Even now, Logan genuinely couldn't decide whether Hufflepuff was secretly the wisest founder present… or simply the only sane one.
