We went out to see that the animals were starting to thrive. We needed to get food so we won't be going around like savages so we each picked an animal. I pick a buck while Oleg picked a bear. We both brought our catch and stored them carefully. Roland dropped by with a horse heart and some beef tenderloin. Serena came with some ideas so that they can be close by. The forest will be my home while the others are spread throughout the villages surrounding the forest. The locals have no problem with nocturnal. I means we can stay where are and call it our home ill it is time to go back.
I asked Oleg to take some time off from me so he can adjust to this life he asked me if we are breaking up. I replied, "I am not breaking up with you. I want you to realize what you want. I feel like you are dating me because you have no choice" Oleg's eyes turned dark, "I am dating you because I love you. I have a choice and I pick you" I shuffled my feet, "You have been a little distant so I assumed that you wanted out" Oleg lowered his head, "I feel like second best" I made the mistake of showing him all the time that I looked at Oleg before I looked at Jasper when I did something. I looked at his reaction to find some sort of solace.
Oleg swore to God that the jaws of life couldn't separate us. I had showed him something that broke the last barrier that stopped him from going all in on his feelings for me. He told me that when I declared Jasper my spouse Oleg discovered that he had feelings for me but he buried them deep inside because he was sure that his love will never be reciprocated. That was until I came to him. He kept telling himself that I would move on but now I had done the opposite. I had proven that I was in love with Oleg all this time. I was the oblivious one. He took my hand and got to one knee. He proposed to me and I said yes. We got married an hour later.
He became a little possessive of me. For example he would have moments of paranoia like Jasper did and that is because he recalled the Emperor. So he would occasionally lock me inside the cottage but I would find a way to get out and sit on the swing. He won't say anything since he is seen smiling as he watch me swing back and forth. He would be swinging his axe and chopping wood or practicing his shooting skills. Occasionally he would be sparing with Ivar or Roland. Kiska and Eska would be seen standing still as the trees they are surrounded in. They try to blend in like they were part of the scenery as they kept an eye out for trouble.
One morning as I made breakfast Oleg said, "I don't want to go back to Central. I want to stay here. I like it here. I know this isn't like the Citadel but this place is soothing. I mean there is less complications." I concurred, "Less disaster indeed but I have a responsibility I can't refuse. Beside you get to sit next to me and give me all sorts of advice" the next mistake was to show him the moment in council where I was sitting on his lap with his arms wrapped around me. It was a false memory but it still had a deep effect.
We say outside by a bird's nest. I asked him if he wanted to be human since he was turned by force. I know for a fact that he hates being a werewolf. He had his entire life planned out. That went out when a rogue one came and destroyed his life. He lost his world. This was on top of the zombie apocalypse. He said that he used to hate it but now that he is in love he has made peace with who he is. He is more interested in spending the rest of his life with me. I told him that I felt the same. I only said what I said because I had a recollection of the day he was talking to Gunther. Oleg growled at the mention. He said it was not his best day. I told him that my mind is showing me these things in an attempt to say that maybe I want closure that we will never part. Oleg chuckled, "You are always thinking of others. Then you met Jasper. You were desperate for love. You were showered with love so you assumed it was ok. Now you know that I am the only one in your life. You are scared that I will disappear on you. I won't do that. You have been through too much to deserve that"
We walked around and then went for a swim. I was happy when I felt someone poke me again. I knew that it was the Arctic Wolves. They are able to link with each other. They sometimes link with me but they can do it briefly. I decided to wait till they tried to link with me I quickly blocked them. Oleg saw that I was seriously focused. He said that he hasn't seen me like that since he saw me babysit one of the neighbor's twins and tried to figure out who was who. I told him what had happened and he smiled that I was able to protect my head space. I asked if I could sneak a peak at Oleg's mind. He leaned forward and I touched his cheek. I was transported to the day he became my bodyguard.
He was watching me with curiosity. I happily hopped like a rabbit to see who was going to protect me. I grinned, "I am pleased to meet all of you. I hope that we get to be friends. Welcome to the family. No one is beneath and no one is above. Think of me as your baby sister so we can get along." Roland cracked a joke and I started to laugh. One of the people there waited till I was calm to chastise them. I happily covered their mouth and told her that my security can freely express their opinions since they have been caged all this time. Freedom of speech is everyone's right. I happily said, "Beside I am not interested in stern faced statues. I want people with real feelings. I like my guards with a sense of humor" I gave Roland a wink.
We walked away from the person and I asked them what we will do to have fun. The others were concerned about the zombie situations. I waved them off saying that they have nothing to worry about. I took them for a drive. I showed that they are safe with me. They relaxed a bit. Slowly I talked to them and got to be friends with them. Then Oleg used to be more business oriented and work only type of person. I used to call him grumpy. Since he was always on duty. His life and death was to protect me. I saved his sister from a zombie and he relaxed a little. He remembered the day in the mall where I teased about a girl about her choice of glasses and I was certain he was wishing for a bowl of popcorn. I was right. I happily jumped up and down saying it on repeat, "I was right" I had to show him my perspective and he laughed, "I didn't know that accessories could define a person. I had to admit when you said that the man in cargo pants looks like he was selling drugs I nearly peed myself when I laughed"
