Serena came with a box of meat. Behind her was a group of humans. Oleg smiled, "Welcome to Rose cottage. To what do we owe this visit?" The youngest asked, "Can I see your fangs?" Oleg smiled gently. He gave them a wink as he opened his mouth and his fangs lengthened an inch. The children squealed with delight and jumped up and down with joy. Oleg laughed melodiously. I leaned against the tree as the children ran in circles around Oleg. The woman asked if we were here permanently. I told her that I am here till it is my turn to rule. She nod to say she understood me. A younger woman said, "Serena and the others are asking to keep the forest untouched so that you can be protected" I nod to agree. The villagers asked if we will visit them so that the security will not worry. Kiska asked that he and the others are taking turns to protect me.
The sun began to rise so I waved my hand to summon bats. They made a canopy to protect the vampires. They smiled at me with appreciation as they moved to safety. As in back to the village. I made sure that they were indoors before the bats went their separate ways. Kiska and Eska stood by the door as children came towards them. They happily hopped on the balls of their feet hoping to play with them. They picked them up and threw them in the air. The adults decided to go home so the kids walked back looking dejected. The werewolves happily waved them off and the kids promised to return.
We decided to go see the village and saw that the place was being renovated to resemble a town. Cows and sheep were being dragged to their new homes and also helping hands followed behind.
Oleg held on to my hand as I walked off to find where the vampires and werewolves call home. I felt like a baby going to kindergarten. Roland fell backwards laughing when he heard me say that. Oleg stared scandalized. He is possessive but this is the limit. I told him that I am not interested in flirting with people I just wanted to observe how life is going now that zombies are temporarily extinct. The nearest person gave me an angry look. Oleg asked, "You think the zombie apocalypse will resume?" I nod my head and sat on the wall as people started to construct a two storey building. I am guessing it was the school.
After a week of deliberation the council sent people to Norway's Svalbard archipelago. The building in question was the seed vault. An hour of whining and going in the wrong direction they finally reach the rectangular building. The door was opened. The seeds were pulled out their storage containers and distributed to the four corners of the globe. Native Americans discovered a cheese vault and that was distributed as well. There was a vault dedicated to medicinal plants. Those were distributed according to instructions. Some grew in high altitudes while others grew on fields and some on wetlands.
There were those that insisted that the privileged ones should deserve the items in the vaults while the lesser should go empty handed. They had assumed that building a smart house and having other security features would save them. They didn't expect EMPs and other equipment would be used to disable everything. People barged in and sent the privileged ones to live on the streets. They had to light up garbage bins to stay warm. Some were forced to move elsewhere. They were seen standing in line collecting food stamps.
The town was built around the forest. Oleg and I would sometimes go and give them a helping hand. The residents appreciated our assistance. They would send care packages once in a while. Children will come and play Kiska and Eska. Some of the children would wrap themselves around Oleg's legs. He will be seen dragging his legs as children giggled mischievously as they tried to stop him from walking. Ivar and Mikael is seen laughing as Oleg almost fell face forward. I caught him before he hurt himself. Some even tried to climb up to his shoulder by grabbing chunks of his shirt. Roland laughed Oleg would pluck them off one by one and hand them to one of the humans. The children would moan sadly as they were disappointed that they didn't get to climb to the top. One of them asked him why he won't let them. He said that I am the only one who can climb on his back or shoulders. He wouldn't mind cradling a kid once in a while. They would stare sadly.
Kiska brought me a puppy and Oleg was growling like a jealous schoolboy. I told him that he is not interested in sleeping with me. So give it a rest. He apologized when Kiska told him that I needed a distraction. I happily played with her and named her Cuppy (Cute Puppy). She had a long nose, golden fur and the cutest eyes. We would go hunting and exploring. She had a nature at tracking. Oleg would follow us. Cuppy likes Oleg more than me and he would laugh when I would pretend to be sad. Cuppy would sit next to me till I feel happy. Then she would be running all over the living room.
Ariel came to see me asking if I could move to the town since it would be safer to protect me. I reluctantly moved but the cottage was kept in case I had to move there. Cuppy was happy to see the others. She liked Serena and the others. I moved to the Avalon apartment. The windows were tinted for security purposes. The others moved to the nearest apartments. The mayor kept the forest as a park and people made roads so that they could travel safely. They made places for picnics and camping. They placed a ranger to ensure the safety of the people who go there.
A few women are seen drooling over Oleg and he just ignores them as a rule. They try to get his attention and he makes it clear that he wants me. They were disappointed but some kept trying till he showed up to the one year anniversary of the end of the zombie apocalypse. It was named Golden Day. I was asked by the mayor to make a bet about when the next zombie apocalypse would occur. I told him that it will happen in one hundred years. There were those who said that it will happen in fifty years. Others said the zombie apocalypse would start in eighty years. A few said that the apocalypse was over once and for all. That was till I told him about the last time the apocalypse was halted. This feels like that. He made it clear that the apocalypse will happen only if people like me think it will happen. I told him that I never assumed the apocalypse when they tried to make an antidote for the Nocturnals. People made a bet and the money made will be distributed to the one who predicted it after the hundred year mark.
