Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"Oh, about that, you may not know the person, but you have the same vibe as Lu Ding, that bastard who pretends to know nothing. He's always trying to give off the aura of a gentleman," Tang Yan answered with a bit of a snort.

Cao Rouxue was surprised to hear her younger nephew's name from a person like Tang Yan. The fact that Lu Ding was introverted and decisive was well-known within the Lu family, and on top of that, Lu Ding was the reason the Lu family could rise up to one of the top seven in the province.

"Yeah, he's my nephew. How did you know him?" she couldn't help but ask.

Tang Yan looked at her speechless, and after a mild moment of thinking, "He sits behind me at school, and he's quite strong. If I were to compare my strength to his now, he should be able to trash me. Well, forget it. For his sake, I'll just stay here under your watch."

Tang Yan said, entering an isolated cell that was dusty but properly arranged.

Back at Tang Yan's home, Madame Su dressed the bruised face of Tang Chen while Tang Sisi slept on her lap. She was a bit surprised at the house in which they lived; it was big and clean, almost as neat as her place, making people find it hard to believe that kids lived here without any helper or housewife.

"Make sure not to rub it too hard and avoid opening it up again unless you want it to be stitches," she reminded, wrapping up the first aid kit.

Tang Chen felt it weird hearing those words since they lived alone with their brother and aunt, who visited once in a while.

"Are you the person who brother sometimes fantasizes about each time he's lost in thoughts?" Tang Chen asked mischievously with an innocent face.

Mrs. Su was shocked; she knew that she was beautiful, even being a widow, but hearing a kid say that increased her heartbeat for no reason.

"No, it shouldn't be me since I'm far older than him, and I'm not that beautiful compared to females of the same age," she said, regaining her composure.

"I don't think so, compared to those proud, hold-digging, arrogant girls in his class. Also, you'll look a lot more elegant, like a real queen, if you were to dress in expensive clothing. Brother doesn't like talking about other women apart from Aunt, who nags a lot, and a lady whose restaurant is close to the construction site he works. So, in my own conclusion, you should be the one he talks about. Also, I doubt that you are up to your age."

Tang Chen began expressing his curiosity, forgetting about the incident that had just passed.

Mrs. Su felt a headache just listening to Tang Chen's evaluation. In one part of her heart, she felt happy, and in another part, she felt scared.

"Enough already. When your brother returns, we'll ask him. Now, let's go to bed and prepare for tomorrow," she said, carrying Tang Sisi in her arms and walking straight into Tang Yan's room, unknowingly, since it was a lot bigger and the bedding was large.

The following morning, Lu Ding got the news of Tang Yan knowing him and also from Cao Rouxue. He panicked and asked that he be released so as to avoid him running wild.

Lu Ding knew well that Tang Yan, since he had reincarnated just recently, adding up to that, Tang Yan being able to suppress Cao Rouxue, who was in the second layer of Qi sensation, with ease, was a sign of the devil making a comeback.

Cao Rouxue herself was surprised at Lu Ding's reaction.

"If you were to ever meet him before entering the late stage of Qi formation level, avoid getting into a fight with him, even if it's a spar," Lu Ding anxiously ordered, showing how dangerous Tang Yan was.

A few moments later, Tang Yan was released.

"You must have confirmed my identity from your cousin, right? Don't worry, since I've been trying to blend into the new environment I'm in," Tang Yan joked in a funny tone, but to Cao Rouxue, it was more like a warning.

Tang Yan walked up to the door of the detained hoodlums.

"Remember to pay the dues the moment you come out, unless you really want to get what's coming to you," he said, swaggering out of the police station.

Not far away, outside the police station, a group of crowds gathered, along with some medical personnel. The issue seemed urgent, and even the nearby police had to just stand by and do nothing.

Tang Yan walked towards the group, hoping to see something interesting, but as soon as he got there, he felt very disappointed because they were just trying to save a person who seemed possessed by a ghost.

"It's a pity that a figure like that would be in such pain," someone in the crowd said.

"I heard he is the new mayor from the capital," another person added.

"Who could have thought that a few days after his entering into office, he would be in such a state?" someone else asked.

"May the heavens bless him, since he is a good man," an elderly woman said, shaking her head.

The surrounding people felt sad and began expressing their condolences, as if the mayor had already met his end.

Tang Yan, hearing these words, felt a spark of ecstasy in his mind, since he could use this moment to gain a bit of wealth, just like in ancient times when strong cultivators would plunder wealth from the rich in need of a favor.

"Using a soul-probing technique should be able to do the trick," Tang Yan thought, moving slightly closer to the mayor, who was receiving treatment. As he released a string of his soul power into the mayor's body, he sensed a dark, chilly energy slowly draining the mayor's soul force.

The moment Tang Yan's soul appeared, the ghost that had been inhabiting the mayor's body began shrinking in fear. The immortal figure of Tang Yan had a huge impact on the outside, as the mayor's body began to itch and turn red, along with a rapid rise in body temperature.

"I don't have enough patience; I'll save you from your misery in return for a little yuan," Tang Yan said to the mayor's soul nonchalantly, ignoring the ghost that seemed to be dying.

"Sure, sure, as long as you help me, I'll pay you," the mayor's soul responded, feeling the scorching heat from the intruding soul.

Unbeknownst to the crowd, the ghost that had fed on the mayor's soul force had completely dissipated, leaving only a small amount of soul force that had not yet been digested.

"Remember, my name is Tang Yan. If you refuse to do as I say, I'll make sure you experience a far worse situation than the one you're feeling," Tang Yan replied, placing an imprint on the mayor's soul.

The moment Tang Yan withdrew his soul, the mayor suddenly gasped for air as he opened his eyes. The surrounding people were shocked, as it was clear that the mayor's body condition had been on the verge of collapse.

Old Three, who coincidentally was also nearby, felt strange and looked in the opposite direction, finding Tang Yan leaving with a satisfied expression, as if the surrounding people and incident had nothing to do with him.
