Jael stood as close as he could, the sunlight streaming from the open doors was almost within inches of his feet, while Mill stood back with a look of concern on her face.
However, she knew she couldn't convince the Primus to step back, and he also insisted on leaving the door open until Mauve returned.
"You're going to get yourself killed," a voice said from the top of the stairs.
Both Mill and Jael turned to see Louis standing in the dark, but only Mill looked surprised to see him. Jael simply had a look of disdain on his face.
"Lord Louis," Mill said with a curtsey.
Louis simply waved at her response, but he didn't look in her direction. Mill felt her heart squeeze at this. The relationship between her and Louis was pretty strained at this point, but try as she might, there didn't seem to be any way to remedy it.
