I lay on the ground breathing heavily. I'm covered in sweat despite the temperature in my home being well below freezing. I had to spend 14 minutes frosting over my spear. It took longer than expected due to the pounding my head is going through being so distracting.
At this point I don't have the energy to speak as it's hard to even form coherent thoughts. My body feels weak to the point where opening my eyes is a chore. Since I can't really do anything and I feel exhausted I end up passing out. After a couple hours I wake up with a massive headache. My stomach growls at me.
"Ugh, I really should be a bit more conservative when using my powers. Overusing them just leads to wasted time, and massive headaches. I feel horrible."
I crawl out of my home slowly since I still feel a bit weak. I walk to my hidden stash of elk and eat some more. I look at myself and realize I've gotten quite dirty. I put bathing in the back of my mind, as I go back home. I pick up and inspect my newly made spear.
The staff is dark since all the wood around here is. It's covered in a thin layer of frost which gives it a bit of a sparkle. The head, which is made completely of ice, reflects the dim blue light given off by the bush in the corner.(I added the dim blue light from the bush because I realize that there is absolutely no way light is reaching the inside of this place. So the light source is the bush. Ok?)
"Well I still need to cover part of it in mud so I can actually hold it. Otherwise tIt's likely to slip out of my hands. Not that it would slip easily. I'm going to need to freeze the mud to the spear though. Should I leave my hand imprints in the mud before freezing it? That seems like a good idea. It's around 3 hours till sunset so I have the time."
I gather some dirt from the walls and grab my spear before climbing out. I spent a bit over an hour walking to the river which I use to wet the dirt. After making it into mud I cover part of the spear with it. I leave my hand imprints in the mud before freezing it. I throw the unused mud to the side before cleaning my hands. I swing my spear around a bit, and I end up stumbling around.
'Swinging this thing around makes me lose my balance. Stabbing isn't difficult, but I want to throw it. It's not very heavy, but I'm afraid my aim will be less than pleasant. I need to find some time to practice throwing.'
With another thing to do I wash myself, leaving me with an hour before sunset. I hurry home and close myself off from the outside world. I yawn as I get comfortable before falling asleep. After waking up I decide to continue my hunt for a home. With that said I end up finishing the last of the stored elk before going trekking through the snowy forest.
'I want to be closer to the river, but I don't want to be too close to the bear den. Honestly it's been a while since I've hunted anything. It might be possible for me to set a trap for the bear and kill it. That way I won't have to worry about it. That leaves room for the wolves or another bear to move in. Well, after killing the bear I can just move into its home.
How do I even set a trap for a bear? Well I should first find it and attempt to follow it around. Bears do have a good sense of smell. Following its tracks around is an option but they disappear in around an hour to an hour and a half. Well I feel like it's better to set a trap in its cave. Finding an opportunity when it's out hunting shouldn't be difficult.'
After thinking of such a plan I nod my head. A couple seconds later I start thinking about whether killing the bear is a good idea. There isn't really a good reason for me to kill it. There's no way I can reason with it. But I think of simply beating it in a fight and taking some of its territory as my own. With this new plan I adjust my thinking.
'Right, I'll train with my spear and magic before fighting the bear. I'll give myself a month from now. I'll find a good place for my home after giving myself a safe place to build. First, I need to secure myself some food.'
I look around and head south west, away from the bear's den. There are more smaller animals there like foxes, rabbits, squirrels and other things like birds. Honestly there everywhere, but just more of them over there. The only problem with hunting small animals is how fast they are, and their small size.
'A spear may not be the best weapon for hunting such animals. I'll just use my flying ice skill. Need to figure out how accurate it is first.'
I concentrate a bit and control the lower Winter Sprites to form a small icicle, around the size of my finger. I look around and decide to try to hit a branch of one of the trees ahead of me. I focus on it before mentally commanding the ice spike to hit the branch. The Ice spike flew forward. It hit the branch spot on and embedded itself in the branch. A barely noticeable pang hit my head.
'I swear that took much more out of me before. Then again I used only one this time. There's also the fact I seem to understand everything better than before. I have a lot stronger connection with the Winter Sprites, but I never really experimented with the new things I can do with them. So many things to do. I'll deal with that later.'
