The first day of November has finally arrived.
It's been three months since Augustus started practising his magic and he finally turned 14 years old today.
Yes. Today is my birthday. Waking up from my bed, I turned my head towards my table which has an astonishing number of little marble pieces on it.
Ever since the day I read about history and started practising my magic, I've invested almost all my time in it. Except for eating and going to sleep I was either practising my magic or recovering my mana by meditating and thinking about what my magic is.
The little marbles were my idea to practice mana control by making them act in various shapes and sizes as it was difficult to actually control them and even make them fly at high speed to be able to use them in an actual fight.
I found out various things about what it is and performed various tricks with it and I finally feel that I'm a little closer to achieving my first circle. After discovering and practising magic, I have much finer control of it.
After taking a shower and wearing my clothes which are still just a white t-shirt and black trousers, I went outside my room only to see George who was looking up at the ceiling and laughing again. I think we'd have to take him to a priest or something. Poor guy.
Ignoring the only weirdo we have in our small house, I made my way to the kitchen to see Ron cooking the food While whispering to himself about being the apostle of the god of cooking.
'Or maybe they all are weird'. I shuddered thinking about the people living here.
I was about to sit on the couch when I heard running sounds and turned my head over only to see Grace leading 6 children who were running behind her. She acted like a boss in front of them.
'What the hell is happening here? Is it like this every day? I didn't know cause I've not attended a normal breakfast with them in months and the only reason I wanted to today was that I had to talk to Ron and Sophie about leaving the orphanage. Well, I was already one of the oldest kids here as everyone my age was either adopted or studying in an academy or something.
I know that this is the most comfortable environment for me but I also knew that I will never be able to grow this way. I've always wanted to travel the world, see different types of magic, and study different things.
'They may all be weird but I'll sure miss them all'. I thought looking around me and seeing kids playing around. It was a warm morning for me. Well, no one wished me a birthday though because well we never celebrated birthdays as we never really knew when we were born. So every first of November we'd pretend that it was our birthday and celebrated it.
"Oi brat, you're zoning out again" Called Sophie who looked like someone having a hard time cause she was trying to feed a new kid that was just dropped at our gates last month. I mean how bad of a parent you'd have to be to just drop off a child somewhere? The Bastard didn't even tell us, we found him in the morning and all we found was a little child covered in a white cloth.
Ron was the one who found him and named him Lith.
"I want to talk to you about something," I said looking a little serious.
Ron was looking at me and just sighed.
"So when do you plan on leaving?" He asked with a sad face leaving me a little stunned.
"How did you find out?" I was genuinely surprised because I never thought they already knew about what I wanted to say.
"Gus we've been managing this orphanage for 16 years now, We know that face." Called Sophie.
"Eh? You're right I guess, Well In a few months. I want to go travel" I said with a bright face hoping they'll not be too sad about it.
They just looked at me with mixed feelings.
"Look, I understand where they're coming from but I promise I'll be careful and I'll keep visiting and writing letters to you," I said wanting to make them feel a bit better.
They may not show it but they treat every kid like their own and I've seen how they felt when the kids leave. Some still visit but most just go on their way so it was a little sad for me too.
Sophie looked at me with a smile and said "You better write a letter to us every month when you leave or I'll smack your ass into oblivion you brat"
'Sometimes she's even scarier than Cassandra and she's just a 1 circle mage'
"I promise". I said.
After eating my fill, I went to my bed to train again.
In just a few more weeks, I'll become a first circle magician...
