Almost six months have passed since Augustus Awakened his magic.
He felt that he has changed deeply within this short period. Despite having yet to become 15 years old, he was already 1.8 meters (5'10) tall. His thin and scrawny build was nothing more than a memory at this time.
Now he had broad shoulders and his muscles were also well developed but not too bulky or huge as he was not planning on carrying any useless weight. He was more than content with his current physique and progress.
'I've already stayed long enough here'. Augustus thought about the past two weeks when he spent most of his time with his 'family' rather than practising magic all day.
Well, he still practised magic every day though.
After taking a last long look at his room where he stayed for the past years, he took his bag where all his luggage was. It was not much, just some clothes, a few books and all the little souvenir that was gifted to him by Sophie.
After taking a long sigh, Augustus made his way downstairs where Ron and Sophie were. It was pretty early in the morning so the kids were still sleeping.
"Are you sure you want to go Gus" Said Ron, the green-haired man.
"Yes, as much as I love to stay here I know I can't," I said.
"Have you thought about where you want to go next yet?" Asked Sophie.
'If I tell them I want to become an adventurer or go to dungeons they'll probably faint' I thought.
"Not yet, but I'll be travelling to Dreake first, I've always heard or read that it is the most beautiful city in the empire and it is not too far away from here as well," I said leaving out the part of it being the Adventurer's paradise too.
'Dreake' is better known as the city of dreams. It was an adventurer's haven in the empire and was also the closest place to 'The Killing Labyrinth'.
'The killing labyrinth was one of the 4 ancient dungeons that always existed on the planet.
The dungeon is known to be seemingly alive, spawning monsters from walls and ceilings and repairing itself on its own. The dungeon is vast with the floors becoming progressively larger the deeper it gets.
"Are you sure you want to leave without saying anything to them?" Inquired Ron.
"If Grace saw me leaving I'm pretty sure she'll stick to me like a koala and not let me go you know". I know it was kind of an asshole move for me to not tell them before moving but It's not like I'll not be back here.
"I promise to visit often"
"Take care you brat and have this". She said giving me a pouch full of gold and silver coins.
"I-" Before I could refuse or say something she hugged me tightly and could understand how she was feeling. I didn't say anything else and just stayed still. After talking a little bit more with them I decided to leave. It was around 6 and the sun was just starting to rise. I gave Sophie a letter to give to grace and some candies in the hope she'll forgive me for not saying goodbye.
That was not the only reason I decided to leave so early. The other reason why I tried to leave early was because of the carriage that leaves every 14th of the month to Dreake. This was also one of the reasons I overstayed because as much as I'm confident in myself I also know the dangers of travelling alone especially without any experience or guide too. The carriage which was more like a caravan journey takes 50 silver from each member of the party in exchange for protecting them and guiding them to Dreake.
It was a little costly as I didn't have enough saved by myself but after the coins, Sophie and Ron gave me I could at least survive for a few months even staying still.
I arrived at the location and saw a few dozen people. Some were wearing armour and carrying swords while some were doing the labour. I made my way to the fat-looking merchant named Paul before registering myself with them. After paying them half of the money the blond-haired guy told me it'd take half an hour to complete the preparation before they leave.
The journey between my town and Dreake was almost 10 days long. That along with the constant threat of bandits and beasts alike was the reason for the extravagant prices.
After half an hour, we finally started leaving.
Looking back at the town where he spent all his life, Augustus felt sad yet excited to begin his journey in this world.
