Up next is Eli against Bugsy's Scyther.
Eli: I've had my fair share of time battling a Scyther, this'll be easy.
Bugsy: Well it is true I'm at a disadvantage right now, I still have confidence in my partner. Scyther, use Focus Energy.
The Pokémon takes a deep breath and focuses it's energy. Eli uses Rock Throw on Scyther.
Bugsy: Use Agility.
Scyther increases it's speed to dodge the attack.
Bugsy: Now, use Vacuum Wave.
Scyther swiftly slips behind Eli and hits him with a critical Vacuum Wave.
Eli: That was an unfamiliar move. Didn't know Scythers could do that.
Scyther goes for a Fury Cutter but Eli blocks it with his tail.
Eli: That though is very familiar.
He hits Scyther with a Rock Tomb, slowing it down.
Bugsy: Scyther, get out of there!
Eli: No you won't.
Before the Scyther could escape, Eli grabs it with Bind. He squeezes it tightly between the rocks that make up his tail. Eli goes for another Rock Tomb but Scyther acts first.
Bugsy: Vacuum Wave!
Another critical Vacuum Wave hits Eli. He let's go of Scyther and it manages to escape the attack before it's hit.
Bugsy: Keep using Vacuum Wave until he's knocked out.
Waves of pure vacuums fly toward Eli as he slithers around the battlefield. He creates a wall between him and the attacks with a Rock Tomb.
Eli: This'll at least give me a second to breath.
Bugsy: No it won't. Scyther, use Agility then Vacuum Wave.
The Scyther suddenly appears in front of Eli and is about to hit him with Vacuum Wave when rocks start falling towards it.
Eli: It was really that easy? And here I thought I was dealing with the ace Pokémon of a gym leader.
Scyther shoots the Vacuum Wave at the rocks to destroy them. This gives Eli the opportunity to use Bind on Scyther.
Eli: This is a trick I always would use on a certain hotheaded Scyther I used to know. Now, catch this Rock Tomb.
He knocks out Scyther with one last Rock Tomb.
Bugsy: Well, color me impressed. I didn't manage to knock out either of you. Maybe I need to study Pokémon battling a bit more. Great job both of you, really. Take the Hive badge.
Eli and Quil take the badge and exit the gym.
Quil: Hey, I got a question.
Eli: Shoot.
Quil: You kept bringing up a Scyther you battled, what's that about?
Eli: Oh, I used to be friends with a Scyther Pokéman. She loved battling, in all honesty she's the reason I wanted to do the gym challenge. I haven't seen her in years though.
Quil: Hm, she seems pretty cool. Wish she could join us on our team.
The two of them meet back up with the others.
