Joseph ended up knocking out. He fell asleep for a good hour and a half. He would've slept for longer if he wasn't woken by Caesar talking to somebody.
He opened his eyes, getting used to the setting around him. JoJo felt like he was sleeping on something stiff. His body hurt from being asleep on one side. He sat upright and realized that he had been dead asleep on Caesar's shoulder.
"Did you sleep well?" Caesar teased him, "You were like, dead. My goodness, your head weighs a million pounds." He said as he shifted his shoulder around.
Joseph was flushed, embarrassed at the comment. "Literally, shut up."
"Anyway," Caesar said, rolling his eyes, "Joseph, this is Mr. Speedwagon. He's the only reason why we were able to do all of this at the last minute."
Speedwagon was the blond man with the scar that Joseph had not so really met earlier. He nodded his head and shook hands with him.
"Hello, Mr. Joestar." Speedwagon told him, "I actually have ties to your Grandfather, Jonathan Joestar."
"Oh, that's interesting," Joseph said. He had never really known much about his grandpa. "How did you know him?"
Speedwagon sighed, "It's quite the story," He told JoJo, "But I feel like you should know, as it affects you."
"Alright then." Joseph got comfortable, knowing that this was going to take a bit.
"Your grandfather, Jonathan Joestar, was a kind man. Too kind. When he was a young boy, his father owed a man a favor. That man saved him and your grandfather from dying when their carriage had crashed one night. Unfortunately, that's how your grandfather's mother passed."
Joseph nodded, soaking in the information.
"Anyhow, the man was very sick, dying in fact. So he sent his son, Dio Brando, to live with the Joestars and take what they were owed. So, the Joestars adopted Dio. Dio and Jonathan did not get along very well. They constantly fought and were polar opposites. As they grew older, their relationship seemed to be getting better. But it wasn't. It wasn't because Dio attempted to kill Jonathan's father by poisoning him, as he did with his own father."
"No way…" Joseph mumbled.
"Jonathan then found out about a power that Dio had; a stone mask. The stone mask was a symbol of an Italian mafia gang. The Pillar Men. Many people think that they're a newer gang, but the power just shifts to whichever is next in line in their family. And somehow, Dio had been affiliated with them."
Caesar had his hands in fists, his knuckles turning white. Joseph couldn't believe it either. "Vermin, those guys. You just can't get rid of them…" Caesar muttered.
"The Pillar Men don't accept just anybody. So, Dio was able to kill Jonathan's father with ease before Jonathan was able to stop him. After Jonathan had found out what Dio had done, he decided that he was going to stop Dio before anything got any worse. He trained with a Mr. Will Anthonio Zeppeli; Caesar's grandfather."
"Pardon?" Caesar blurted out. It seemed like he was barely finding this news out as well. "His grandfather…and my grandfather…so we're connected in a way?"
"In a way." Speedwagon told him. "Your grandfather and Jonathan had something in common. They both wanted to find out more about the Pillar Men. So, they became allies. Mr. Zeppeli taught Jonathan how to fight, since he wasn't a stranger to the Pillar Men, and Jonathtan brought him along to defeat Dio."
"Did they get him? Dio?" Joseph asked, practically at the edge of his seat after finding out about all of these twists.
"Well, no. Dio wasn't alone. He was accompanied by partners of his. One of them happened to kill Mr. Zeppeli. His death fueled Jonathan further and Jonathan began his battle with Dio. A horrible battle, might I say. Jonathan nearly got Dio; he lit him on fire."
"Hold on, nearly?" Joseph said, "How does somebody nearly die?"
"That's what I was going to get to, if you would let me finish." Speedwagon sighed, "Something happened- unnatural. Dio was burning, shrieking in pain. We all thought the battle was over, so we began to retreat. But we were wrong. Dio rose from the ashes and shot Jonathan."
"Now hold on," Joseph stood up, "Somebody please explain to me how Dio literally, literally, rose from the ashes of a fire that he was supposed to burn in?"
"We still have no idea, to be honest. Although this is my personal theory, I believe that he may have…transformed into a greater being." Speedwagon revealed. Joseph looked at Caesar.
Is he serious?
"It might be best to keep that to yourself," Caesar put a hand on Speedwagon's shoulder, "You sound…pardon me, but you sound mad."
Speedwagon sighed.
"How did you make it out?" Joseph said, quite bluntly. Caesar elbowed him.
"It's okay. Many people ask that. Well, I feel like he might have let me go. We came to the battle in a plane, so I was already starting the plane when Jonathan was killed. I started the plane, not sure if I should go and retrieve Jonathtan's body, and I flew away. I was the only one who left alive."
"Oh…I'm sorry." Joseph said. Speedwagon nodded. "So…what happened to Dio?"
"I'm not exactly sure." Speedwagon answered. "We believe he may still be working with the Pillar Men. But I'm not sure about his exact whereabouts."
Caesar and Joseph nodded. So, to recap, they may have to be fighting against 3 mafiosos and some British freak who had generational beef with Joseph's family.
-
This time, Joseph and Caesar both took naps. They were both exhausted from all of the Joestar/Zeppeli lore and fighting. Joseph's head was on Caesar's shoulder and Caesar's head was on Joseph's head.
Joseph woke up first. He felt something heavy on his head. He also felt that he was asleep on something not super comfortable. Kill myself. He thought to himself. Joseph had fallen asleep on his crush. Again. And his crush fell asleep on him.
Go on Caesar, continue feeding into Joseph's delusions.
JoJo moved his head a little bit. Suddenly, Caesar sprang up. His face was bright red. "Oh! Sorry!" He quickly apologized, scratching the back of his head. "I- I was just so tired. I didn't realize I was sleeping on you…"
Joseph hid his face for two reasons. The first was that he wasn't any less red than Caesar was, it was just less obvious due to his tanned skin. The second was that he literally couldn't look at Caesar's face without exploding. The way that Caesar's ears were bright red due to embarrassment, the way he was stuttering, and the way that he didn't even mind the fact that Joseph had fallen asleep on him various times.
"Haha, it's fine." Joseph giggled, "I don't mind at all!"
They both laughed at each other. Caesar sat back down next to him. Soon enough the laughter died down and they just so happened to look at each other at the right moment. Caesar's emerald eyes were locked with Joseph's. There was a certain silence between them. One that wasn't awkward and made you want to fidget with your hands, but the comforting type.
Joseph decided to be bold and make a move. He slowly inched his hand to meet Caesar's. And he did. Caesar blushed as Joseph held his hand. Joseph was keeping his cool, also blushing but smiling at him.
On the outside of course.
On the inside he was doing quadruple backflips.
Caesar moved his gaze to the floor and back up to meet Joseph, as if he thought about something. Just as he was about to speak, Speedwagon came into the room. Joseph and Caesar quickly got back into a more…heterosexual best buddies type of mood and position.
Speedwagon blinked and just let it go. He'd obviously seen them but thank goodness he was a saint and didn't mention it. "Oh. Well I came to tell you boys that we've arrived."
Joseph wasn't sure how to feel about that. The take off was already the most violent thing he had ever experienced. So now that they are at the destination, how much worse will it get.
"Okay then." Caesar sighed, "I suppose that we should get our luggage."
Speedwagon nodded and left for the cabin.
Joseph got up and was careful with the luggage drawer this time. They got their bags in silence until they were finished.
"Joestar," He said to Joseph, "I like you too."
Caesar walked away with his bag and out the door. Joseph was left there, jaw on the ground, bright red.
That can't be right. Joseph's delusions were meant to stay delusions, so why is one becoming reality?!?!
Caesar wasn't a Todd. That was for sure.
