He walked past her without stopping.
In that moment, the smile on Sofia Hamilton's face froze, tinged with awkwardness, as if her voice was stuffed into her throat by a ball of cotton.
She turned her head and realized he was greeting someone behind her.
Ryan Gregory smiled, shook hands with the person, and chatted casually, showing no intention of glancing her way.
Sofia felt a pang of disappointment, her smile fading completely.
She felt like a fool, still smiling at him, even thinking...
Having done something so foolish, she couldn't bear to stay any longer. All she could do was keep the awkward expression on her face and quickly leave.

He lifted his gaze to watch, but she was already gone, nowhere to be seen.
