Just as Kara had remarked when she returned, Robert hadn't expected such an uneventful night to turn so lively. Encountering so many superhuman individuals in one go was a rarity. Previously, even in extraordinary incidents, Robert and Kara seldom encountered so many superhumans at once. But the root of all this activity did relate to Robert.
If it hadn't been for Robert disguising himself as a beastman, the official agencies in America wouldn't have focused on the werewolves and vampires from Europe. Of course, the vampires were merely collateral damage in the pursuit of werewolves, as no one thought of vampires as bat-men.
It was because America's official agencies targeted the European vampires and werewolves that they sent people to America, disguised as local werewolves and vampires, to investigate and possibly seek revenge. This led Blade, who had been hunting vampires, to notice these foreign vampires, and they had already clashed several times before.
However, the presence Robert and Kara sensed approaching now wasn't here for the vampires but because of the werewolves. Robert could vaguely sense that this newcomer seemed to have some connection with the power of moonlight!
"Swish!" Just as Nell was about to transform and teach the werewolf Ann a lesson, a figure suddenly appeared at his side, attracting Nell's attention and making him wary.
It was a man dressed in a gray and white uniform, with a strange symbol on his chest. Robert, who had seen many superhero costumes, found nothing unusual about it, and even noticed elements reminiscent of Batman, Deadpool, and other superheroes.
"Another one?" March, who had been about to flee but was forced to stop, realized the gravity of the situation. The increasing number of superhumans meant their situation was becoming more dangerous. Whether this new arrival was good or evil, it spelled trouble for March. An evil superhuman wouldn't help them just because they were in danger, and a good one, like Blade, would be even more threatening, likely joining forces to fight against them.
March couldn't understand why Robert and Kara hadn't made a move, standing by as if watching a show. But he hoped they would continue watching, as it decreased his risk. This made him reconsider his escape plan, thinking that with Nell and the newcomer attracting attention, no one would focus on him.
"Boom!" Just as March was planning his escape again, a loud explosion echoed, illuminating the surroundings as bright as day. This explosion had little effect on ordinary people but was highly detrimental to vampires. The vampire who had just absorbed his comrade's blood and power disintegrated in the blast, turning to ashes. Even March, who was about to flee, was affected, his body momentarily halted by the sunlight and ultraviolet rays, weakening his aura.
"It seems this guy came prepared. His weapons are specifically designed to deal with vampires. I wonder if this will work on Morbius..." Robert muttered, watching Blade. "But this guy also has vampire blood. Why isn't he afraid of these weapons? Silver weapons, maybe, but what about the sunlight and UV rays? Should I test him with a solar punch?"
Seeing Blade's performance, Robert was tempted to test this unique vampire. But he didn't act because Blade noticed March trying to escape and rushed towards him. Blade wouldn't miss any chance to kill a vampire, even if the situation around him was unclear.
"A bounty hunter specialized in hunting vampires?" The newly arrived man in the uniform frowned at the explosion and the sudden burst of sunlight, though he quickly adapted and refocused on Nell.
"Who are you? Do you intend to kill me?" Nell growled, his claws moving menacingly, asking, "Are you another bounty hunter? Do you want to target our werewolf clan?"
"You can call me Moon Knight. You're not entirely correct... but close enough," Moon Knight replied calmly. "If you werewolves are stealing the Moon God's power to strengthen yourselves, then I indeed need to deal with you, especially since you have shed so much innocent blood."
"What the hell?" Nell was taken aback by Moon Knight's words, not understanding what he meant by the Moon God.
"Moon God?" Robert also heard Moon Knight and realized he hadn't been mistaken. Moon Knight indeed had a connection to moonlight. Robert sensed that as Moon Knight stood under the moonlight, his power gradually increased.
"Interesting, stealing the Moon God's power? According to him, the power of moonlight belongs to someone, the Moon God?" Robert's interest was piqued. He felt reassured about his decision to watch rather than intervene. But he became curious again.
"I can also absorb moonlight or store it in my body for my Great Ape transformation. Does that mean I'm stealing the Moon God's power? Probably not. Werewolves and Moon Knight can continuously draw power from the moonlight, while my Great Ape transformation is fundamentally my own power awakened by moonlight..."
"This is similar to my earlier attempt to emulate Clark and Kara's way of absorbing sunlight to enhance their strength. I only managed to store some special moonlight power, not continuously strengthen myself with it. Maybe this is my chance?"
"Which pantheon does this Moon God belong to? If there's a Moon God, is there a Sun God too? If so, does that mean Clark and Kara are stealing the Sun God's power? I wonder if the Sun God could withstand Clark and Kara's punches!"
As Robert pondered, Moon Knight and Nell had already started fighting. Nell, surprised, found that as Moon Knight approached, the moonlight empowering him vanished.
"What's happening?!" The sudden absence of moonlight's power frightened Nell. Despite realizing Moon Knight's strength wasn't much greater than his own, Nell hesitated to fight head-on.
It seemed Moon Knight's abilities indicated the presence of a Moon God who was reclaiming the power bestowed upon Nell.
This realization terrified Nell. Even as a superhuman creature, he feared the Moon God. He didn't fully understand the nature of the moonlight empowering them. Other werewolf clans also benefitted from moonlight, gaining mysterious boosts under a full moon.
In the new era, werewolves, unlike their traditional predecessors, eagerly embraced modern technology to study the deeper connection between moonlight and werewolves. Unfortunately, Nell's clan had made no progress, leading them to abandon this line of inquiry.
But now, seeing the truth, Nell felt paralyzed, unable to fight Moon Knight freely. Even his usual fiery temperament was forcibly subdued.
Thus, the battle was one-sided. Moon Knight kept attacking, while Nell dodged, refusing to counterattack, suffering injuries passively.
Fortunately, Moon Knight's attacks caused limited damage. Nell's werewolf regeneration far surpassed Luke's, showing that the difference between werewolf branches was even greater than that between humans and werewolves.
"He can suppress the moonlight's boost on Nell but can't truly harm him. The moonlight power on Moon Knight isn't affecting Nell either," Robert observed. "I wonder if werewolves fear silver weapons. But Moon Knight doesn't have any, so it doesn't matter."
Robert shifted his focus to the other battlefield, where the fight was far more intense. Blood flowed freely from both March and Blade, as if in a gory film. The more blood spilled, the more shocking the visuals.
Despite the blood loss, neither March nor Blade showed typical symptoms of blood loss. Their expressions remained unchanged, though their auras weakened slightly, suggesting a loss of strength.
"This Blade's combat skills are impressive!" Robert remarked, admiring Blade's technique. Blade's skills were slightly better than Moon Knight's, partly because of his greater strength and the smaller gap between him and his opponent.
Initially, Robert felt Blade's strength was far below March's, given March's near-demonic power level. But in battle, Blade held his ground, thanks to his extensive anti-vampire arsenal.
Blade now wielded a silver longsword as his main weapon. He knew it was difficult to hit March with silver bullets in close combat. With the silver sword, March hesitated to engage directly, resorting to energy attacks instead. But Blade's experience allowed him to avoid critical hits, trading blows to inflict unhealable wounds with his silver sword.
Blade's familiarity with vampire combat was evident. His vampire blood granted him rapid healing, quickly recovering from March's attacks, while March's wounds, caused by the silver sword, healed slowly.
"A strange race indeed. Even with such power, they're still limited by their inherent weaknesses, fearing silver like any other vampire..." Robert mused, observing the battle's dynamics.
