Chapter 95: Spirit Bone Appears
Following the blood trail up the mountain, Ye Feng and his team found the wolf bandits who had destroyed the village at the summit.
The wolf bandits were massive, their bodies covered in green fur. They moved silently, a faint green light flickering around their sturdy frames. There were over thirty of them, each carrying women on their shoulders or tying weaker girls to sticks like cargo.
These bastards weren't just pillaging—they were breeding. The wolf bandits captured women solely to use them for reproduction. If a woman failed to conceive, they'd kill her without hesitation. As for the young girls, their fates were just as grim. Once they grew up, they'd be forced into the same nightmare.
Ma Hongjun looked at the creatures before him, his face full of shock. "Are these monsters really the wolf bandits?"
"Yeah," Ye Feng nodded. "Be careful. These things are the result of humans and Wind Wolves crossbreeding. They're vicious as hell, so don't hold back when you fight."
"The hell? So they're beasts?" Ma Hongjun asked in disbelief.
"Yeah," Ye Feng repeated.
"So… are they spirit beasts or humans?" Ma Hongjun pressed.
"Neither," Ye Feng said flatly. "They're freaks."
Xiao Wu's expression darkened. She had just spotted a small girl struggling to fight back against one of the wolf bandits. In response, the bandit slaughtered her on the spot, his claws slicing through her like she was nothing.
The girl had been no more than seven or eight—innocent, full of life. But these fuckers didn't care.
Rage flared in Xiao Wu's eyes. Without a second thought, she leaped forward, catching the attention of the bandits.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out. Xiao Wu, moving like lightning, fired a bullet straight into the head of a wolf bandit.
"Move in!" Ye Feng shouted, immediately following behind her.
The combat strength of an adult wolf bandit was equivalent to that of a Level 30 spirit master. The Shrek Monsters' current levels were:
Dai Mubai (Evil-Eyed White Tiger) - Level 39, power-type combat spirit master
Tang San (Blue Silver Grass & Clear Sky Hammer) - Level 37, control & offense-type spirit master
Zhu Zhuqing (Netherworld Cat) - Level 42, agility-type fighter
Oscar (Sausage) - Level 40, food-type spirit master
Ning Rongrong (Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda) - Level 42, support-type spirit master
Ma Hongjun (Evil Fire Phoenix) - Level 47, power-type spirit master
Xiao Wu (Soft Bone Rabbit) - Level 49, power-type fighter
Ye Feng (Xuanyuan Sword, Nine-Hearted Mysterious Tang, Eye of Hell) - Level 59, multi-type spirit king (support, control, and mental)
Since Ye Feng's Xuanyuan Sword had obtained three ten-thousand-year spirit rings, his power had skyrocketed from Level 55 to 59. Unlike Dai Mubai and Tang San, whom Ye Feng didn't particularly like, he hadn't given them any immortal herbs to enhance their cultivation. As a result, their spirit power was the lowest among the Shrek Monsters. Meanwhile, Ma Hongjun, thanks to his unique cultivation method, had rapidly overtaken them and was closing in on Xiao Wu's level.
"Nine Treasures, First Boost: Strength!"
"Nine Treasures, Second Boost: Speed!"
Ning Rongrong activated her buffs, boosting the team's strength and agility. With her current power at Level 42, her buffs increased everyone's stats by 40%.
Since the wolf bandits were only as strong as Level 30 spirit masters, only Dai Mubai struggled a little. The others? They were more than enough to wipe these monsters out.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"First Spirit Skill: Netherworld Stab!"
"Third Spirit Skill: Phoenix Soaring!"
"Purple Cloud Wings!"
"Green Eagle Wings!"
Zhu Zhuqing, Ma Hongjun, and the others unleashed their spirit skills. Xiao Wu and Oscar used their external spirit bones, Purple Cloud Wings and Green Eagle Wings, to stay airborne and fire at the bandits from above. The bandits lashed out with their claws, light slashes flashing through the air, but they couldn't land a single hit.
One wolf bandit suddenly locked eyes with Ning Rongrong. He let out a series of guttural noises, seemingly giving an order.
"Take her out first!"
Several bandits lunged toward her.
Ning Rongrong's eyes flickered. She stomped her foot, activating a support skill that cloaked her in green light, boosting her movement speed. Thanks to her recent weighted training, she was no longer a typical support spirit master—her speed was almost on par with the attackers.
Even though she couldn't fully outrun the bandits, they also couldn't land a single hit on her. Their speeds were practically equal.
Bang!
With a smirk, Ning Rongrong fired a shot, dropping one of the bastards instantly.
The fight quickly turned one-sided. One by one, the wolf bandits were gunned down or torn apart by the Shrek Monsters.
"Awooo!"
The remaining bandits, realizing they had no chance, howled in rage but still fought to the death.
Ye Feng smirked. "Let's test out my new skill."
His second spirit ring flared with a deep black glow, and golden energy condensed into countless sword projections around him.
"Second Spirit Skill: Ten Thousand Swords Return!"
With a wave of his hand, the golden swords rained down, tearing through the remaining wolf bandits.
"Hey, bro, look at that!"
Xiao Wu pointed to one of the fallen bandits. A faint green glow shimmered over his right leg.
Tang San's eyes narrowed. "A… spirit bone?"
Ye Feng's heart skipped a beat. He walked over, sliced open the wolf bandit's leg with his Xuanyuan Sword, and carefully pulled out the glowing object. His breath caught.
"It really is a spirit bone."
"Holy shit!" Ma Hongjun blurted. "We actually got a spirit bone?!"
Ye Feng examined the red spirit bone in his hand and began speculating. "This could either be an ability that grants intangibility—letting the user phase through physical attacks—or a bloodthirsty skill that boosts overall stats. Either way, it'll definitely enhance speed and overall attributes."
His gaze swept over the team.
Tang San, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Xiao Wu, and the others all stared at the spirit bone, hunger in their eyes. They wanted it. Badly.
In the original timeline, Dai Mubai had obtained a spirit bone from the corpse of the wolf bandit leader. But since the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Competition hadn't happened yet, Ye Feng wasn't sure if this was the same spirit bone.
Tang San clenched his fists, deep in thought.
Ye Feng… He always seemed like a comrade, yet he kept a distance. Tang San had a feeling—this spirit bone? It wasn't going to him.
