Chapter 150 Reasons Why

Kailey lifted her head and replied uncertainly, "I'm not sure if I can help with the curses you two would be facing, but I think my knowledge might be useful." She paused, then added, "However, don't blindly trust everything I say; it's not like I know every curse in the world."

"I'm sure you would know at least one of them," Aleshia replied confidently. "Based on what Lucia and I have discovered, the curses function like accelerants for poisons: they weaken a person's immune system and enhance the poisons already present in their body. That is the curse we wish to dispel." Aleshia concluded. She then continued, "Additionally, there seem to be two other curses: one that prevents the victim from dying and another that alerts the caster if any related curses are tampered with or dispelled." A hint of doubt crept into Aleshia's voice as she continued, "Though the one preventing their victim from dying is merely my conjecture."

After hearing Aleshia's explanation, Kailey closed her eyes, put her hands together with her fingers resting on her chin, and quietly pondered the information, murmuring to herself. When she lowered her fingers, it seemed she had sorted things out in her mind.

"Yeah, I believe I would know how to dispel those curses you mentioned. The one that prevents them from dying sounds particularly interesting," Kailey said, her interest shifting in a new direction. However, before her mind wandered too far, she lightly knocked on her temples to refocus her thoughts. "Never mind that for now. Based on what you said about the curse alerting the caster if one of their curses is tampered with, dispelling it without notifying the caster will be quite challenging. I might find myself in a tricky situation if I were to try to dispel it. Is there any reason we shouldn't dispel it alongside the others?" Kailey asked, her tone inquisitive.

Kailey's question and tone made Aleshia realize she had not clearly explained who they were trying to help or who might come after them if the curse drew their attention. "I apologize for not clarifying earlier," Aleshia said. "The curse might alert some nobles based on information provided by the person responsible for the ones cursed care. We thought we could help them recover, but the caretaker has asked us to avoid drawing attention. Therefore, it would be best not to remove that curse, at least for now.

"I suppose I could help you break their curse, especially if we're planning to raid some noble mansions and storehouses," Kailey said, a gleam in her eyes, blatantly ignoring why she shouldn't break the curse.
