Chapter 35 - Chaos Vampires

Chaos Vampires.

Like the name says, it's a vampire.

But having the word 'chaos' in it gave it a whole new meaning.

As the dark particles flowed into the four statues through the cracks all over them, these cracks began to enlarge and spread as the statues began to crumble, releasing a heavy pressure on both Ling and Jiang Feng.

The pressure wasn't from a higher cultivation base, it was something coming from within their bloods.

Staring at the where the broken pieces of the statues once stood, a grave expression appeared on both Jiang Feng's and Ling's faces.

"FINALLY! I'VE ESCAPED FROM THE SEALS!!"

Starting with the shout of a released Chaos Vampire, the other statues began to crumble in order as the beings within were freed.

They released similar cries of joy and excitement, not even noticing Ling below them who had been gathering spiritual energy in silence.

When one of them finally saw the two humans standing at the center of the arena below them, it was already too late as Ling spoke.

"Disappear before my sight."

Extending her opened palm, Ling crushed her fist as the gathered up spiritual energy within her dispersed in an instant. The next second, shrieking screams resounded throughout the colosseum, no, the whole tomb as a bright light lit up before Jiang Feng's eyes.

The unique Ghost Fire that belonged to Ling presented itself once again, incinerating the Chaos Vampires as quick as they appeared in the form of a large pillar descending from the sky.

By the time the huge pillar of blue flames dissipated, not even a speck of ash was left behind to prove the existence of the Chaos Vampires.

Just as Jiang Feng was about to inquire from her about the technique she used earlier, a sudden intense sensation gripped his heart as he fell to his knees, breathing for air. The flow of spiritual energy within him was also disturbed, turning berserk and unstable as it destroyed some parts of his veins.

The tearing pain was coming from all parts of his body, making him scream in pain as his consciousness seeped into the darkness, only seeing the blurry figure of Ling getting down as she approached him, her voice fading along with his fleeting awareness.

'Hmm…where…am I…'

"Find a place to hide before I come back down. Something's going on up there."

'H..huh, whose voice was that?'

"Is it going to be safe?"

"I'm not sure, but I promise I would make it back before you."

'Hold on a second, why does these voices sound like…'

"…this far all just for a woman, yet still, FATHER PICKED YOU OVER ME!!!"

"…What you've done…today will not be…covered…easily…"

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. After tonight, those that know of the truth shall disappear from the face of the world, with me crowned as the new king that killed the 'traitor'."

"I suppose I should have thanked you for meeting Father tonight, else, I wouldn't have found such a perfect opportunity to take action. I'll remember you well, ***, but in the way of a 'traitor' that you 'were'. Be grateful that you served for such a glorious purpose for me."

"Feng!!"

Responding to the desperate shouts of Ling, Jiang Fent sat up from the ground as he breathed raggedly, sweats dripping from his forehead.

His pupils were trembling as the voices he heard brought back the nightmares of the past, something he hadn't experience in quite a while.

Turning towards Ling as he looked at her worried face, Jiang Feng began to calmed down as he hugged and held her in his embrace, brushing her hair as her tears stained his clothes.

"I'm sorry. I forgot to held back just now and-"

"It's fine. I'm already feeling much better after awaking now."

Cutting off Ling from blaming herself, Jiang Feng continued to pat the back of her head as her cries turned louder, her hands placed on Jiang Feng's shoulders as they held him tightly.

When she finally calmed down and stopped her runny nose, Jiang Feng decided to let go of her and began inquiring questions.

"What happened?"

Wiping off the remaining tears from the corner of her eyes, Ling looked at him and started explaining.

"After I killed the Chaos Vampires, the surrounding spiritual energy burned up and caused a bit of damage to the planet, which its protective mechanism was triggered as your spiritual energy was sucked out to fill the emptiness, making your veins tear as the flow of spiritual energy went berserk."

"I was too blinded by my hatred at then, but when I heard your screams, I got pulled back and saw you falling to the ground, wriggling in pain as your teeth gritted."

"So I healed your veins with my spiritual energy and calmed the berserk flow, but you still wouldn't wake up. Even your face was pale, and so was your breathing slowly becoming faint."

"Just as I thought you were about to leave again, you finally woke up."

"Then things continued on with what's going on now." Jiang Feng interjected as he looked at Ling, who replied with a nod.

Sighing out loud as headaches rang in his head, Jiang Feng turned to Ling again as he asked.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, just a bit tired from crying this much."

"Let's head back then, I'll carry you."

Although the Chaos Vampires were killed, no treasures to loot appeared in the arena or colosseum.

Jiang Feng didn't want to make Ling wait, so he gave up searching them after going for a short walk around the colosseum.

Keeping the sword given to him by Ling in his space pouch, Jiang Feng carried Ling off the ground like a princess as her hands hugged his neck for support.

Once making sure everything was fine, Jiang Feng began sprinting towards the exit of the tomb as Ling fell asleep in his arms.

When she woke up, it was already the second day.

Waking up on the bed of the hotel that they booked a room in, Ling felt scared as she failed to see Jiang Feng's figure next to her.

"Feng!"

Rushing out of the room, Ling was able to see Jiang Feng standing at the kitchen, his hands holding a pan and spatula, seemingly frying something.

"Good morning, Ling. Did you need something?"

Turning to look at the messy Ling, Jiang Feng shone a smile at her, calming her anxious feelings as she walked towards him.

"What are you making?"

"Breakfast. You should go ahead and take a bath first, it'll be done once you're out."

"No, I'll wait for it here."

"Eh?"

"Just continue frying whatever you're making."

Saying that, Ling hugged Jiang Feng from behind as her hands were at his waist, her face buried into Jiang Feng's back.

Feeling dumbfounded by Ling's sudden actions, Jiang Feng could only continue on like she said with awkward movements as the two enjoyed their intimate moments.
