"So, what are the plans for today?"
Stepping out of the bathroom while drying his hair with a towel, Jiang Feng walked towards Ling and stood beside her as he waited for a reply.
"Is there anything to do in this city?"
Sitting on the bed with her back leaning on the pillow against the headboard, Ling kept her head down as she fiddled with her phone.
"Well, there seems to be an adventure park nearby."
"Would it be as adventurous as the tombs we explored?"
"..no."
Hanging up the towel, Jiang Feng moved onto the bed as he sat closely to Ling, her head falling against his shoulders as her eyes continued to stare at the glowing screen.
"I got it!"
Stating with excitement, Jiang Feng sat up straight as his fist smacked the palm of the other hand. Ling also shifted her attention towards him, wanting to know what kind of idea he was having.
"We'll be leaving Earth soon and who knows when's our return going to be? So why don't we head out to for things that we can use even on other planets?"
"Things like?"
Putting away her phone, Ling began looking at Jiang Feng as her eyes lit up, the idea of being able to watch TV shows on other planets enticing her.
"Well, TV shows are out first since the TV signals can't possibly reach that far to the planet we're heading, but we should be able to pre-record some to watch. A television and some USB drives will be needed for that."
"…I should start downloading some on my phone as well."
"Other than that, we can bring along some of the delicacies and ingredients of Earth. Who knows if the other planets have them."
"Skip the spices, we have at least that."
"I see. What else can we bring…"
…
After discussing for about an hour so, Jiang Feng and Ling began their shopping spree at a nearby mall.
The two figures could be seen scouring in all of the departments as they would stop before a certain item, comparing prices and picking the better option. They even had to get a few shopping carts just to hold all the stuff they were buying.
Some of the passersby that saw them would stare at them with bewildered gazes, wondering if the couple was preparing for an apocalypse.
By the time they reached checkout, the manager was standing at the gates waving goodbye at the two as the corner of his lips were raised as high as they could.
Back at the hotel, Jiang Feng and Ling swiftly packed their belongings as they checked out of the hotel, the things bought from the mall all kept in the space pouches beforehand.
Finding a hidden corner of the city, the two entered its alleys before soaring into the sky, flying back to where the Jiang Family's Residency was located at.
On the way back, Jiang Feng and Ling conversed with each other as laughter accompanied their conversation.
"That's reminds me, have you thought of what to tell your parents when we leave Earth?"
Posing a question all of a sudden, Jiang Feng was stunned by it as he went silent.
"I don't think I'll be able to tell them, nor would they believe or permit me to do so."
"Eh? What are you going to do then?"
Turning to look at Ling, a light smile rose on Jiang Feng's face as he replied.
"I'll still follow you until the ends of the world."
…
"We're back!"
Stepping into the dining room, Jiang Feng's and Ling's appearance startled the married couple that were having their meal.
"You guys are back already? This late as well? We would've sent someone to pick you guys up if you called us."
Rising from her seat, Jiang Feng's mother approached the two as she began ushering the two to the seats next to hers, a warm smile hanging on her face.
Declining the offer for dinner, Jiang Feng began sharing his experience with Ling throughout the month to his parents. Of course, the tomb looting parts were left out as it would sound crazy to the ears of others.
Using an excuse of being tired, Jiang Feng and Ling left the dining room and returned to their bedroom, having already bathed and readied to go to bed.
"Are you really sure you want to leave as soon as day comes?"
Nestling in Jiang Feng's arms, Ling looked up to meet his gaze as she asked.
Jiang Feng avoided her eyes as he stared at stars outside, silently pondering about his decisions with a tinge of anxiety rising within him.
"I have to. I won't be able to do so if I stay any longer, my heart just can't accept leaving them suddenly when I've been living with them for all my life."
Turning away from the moonlight, Jiang Feng closed his eyes and brought Ling closer to his chest as he continued.
"Although these are just feelings and fragmented memories, I think I'm starting to reconnect with my past life."
"Does that you mean remembered what happened in the past?"
Sitting up abruptly at the sudden revelation, Ling stared at Jiang Feng's face in shock.
"No, only parts that have no meaning or whatsoever. Mostly just some feelings of sort."
"But these feelings…it feels like they're trying to guide me to somewhere, and it intensifies whenever I think back on the day of our encounter with the Chaos Vampires."
"The Chaos..."
Murmuring the words to herself, Ling's expression turned cold in an instant as the surrounding temperature dropped, her spiritual energy causing all of this as her emotions shifted.
Noticing such details, Jiang Feng patted her head and showed her a warm smile, melting away the coldness around them.
"Either way, I am now sure that I have to continue on this journey if cultivation. Not only to get answers, but to fix something from the past."
"And until I recover my previous memories, we'll be together for as long as eternity lasts."
…
Some time between the arrival of daylight and the midnight, the sounds of the shower echoed through the chilly corridor as the light remained dimmed.
Turning off the shower and walking out of it, Ling quickly heated herself up using the Ghost Fire she possessed, evaporating all the water drops on her as she put on her clothes.
Walking back into the bedroom, Ling approached Jiang Feng's melancholic figure as she stood beside him. Even without the help of the Art, Night Eyes, she could see the trembling hand that was holding a pen as he wrote the letter on the table.
Once the final dot was on, the pen was placed down next to the letter as Jiang Feng's figure stood up.
Looking at Ling, Jiang Feng suppressed the cowardly reactions he was having as he put on a smile.
But as the rays of moonlight shone on his face, the hidden unease that Jiang Feng tried to hide also surfaced before Ling, making her lean forward as she hugged him tightly.
Returning the hug as he held her waist, Jiang Feng closed his eyes and allowed the silent moment to calm his feelings.
"Are you ready now?"
Feeling the grasp that Jiang Feng had over her loosen, Ling stepped back and gave some space to Jiang Feng, tilting her head as she asked that question.
Turning behind him as he stared into the wall, the imaginative figures of his parents laying on their bed appeared in his head. The unwillingness of separation resurfaced, but was quickly suppressed by Jiang Feng as he looked away, nodding at Ling.
"Then let's leave now."
Opening the windows of the room, Ling stood at its edge as her hand extended back towards Jiang Feng, who grabbed onto it tightly as they both jumped out of the room, soaring into the night sky as they continue to ascend.
"We're nearing the atmosphere!"
Shouting out loud as she passed the information to Jiang Feng, Ling began to accelerate as they both went pass the invisible barrier that protected the Earth. The feeling of suffocation did not arrive to where Jiang Feng was at, as he already switched to spiritual energy for survival.
Their figures slowly enlarged the distance them and the Earth, as Jiang Feng took one more look at the planet down below him, as if still able to see where the house he lived at was.
'Goodbye, mother. Goodbye, father.'
'One day, we'll meet again, and when that day arrives, it'll be the day where I'll be able to let you live longer than any of the beings in the universe.'
