Leo was surprised to hear Alice's confession. He did think that she was acting differently compared to her smart and quick-witted personality from the past before meeting him.

She craved affection, attention, and warmth. No wonder she liked it the most when he stayed next to her while she slept.
She was scared of being alone more than anything. Scared that the warmth she was starting to get used to would someday disappear, leaving her with nothing but the cold and harsh reality of the world.
