"Hey man," Luke called as he walked in.
I looked up from the document I was going through, giving him my full attention.
"What's up, Luke? Are you okay?" I asked. Luke had called me earlier today to tell me that he was going to get to work later.
Even later than was normal.
It was weird when I got here and found out that he wasn't at work. I had considered calling him, but decided against it. I thought that maybe he was running late.
And even though it was already strange enough that my personal assistant, who had never been late in all of the years he had been working for me, what made the entire thing even more weird was the fact that he had called me to tell me first.
Which meant that he knew exactly what was going to make him late. It wasn't going to be a spur of the moment thing, it wasn't going to be a case of him being stuck in traffic or a case where he woke up later than he used to.
