The meeting eventually concluded with me consenting to Michael's proposal. When everything was sorted I would be transported into the human realm, on the island, 'Aetheris Haven.' Uriel promptly dragged me to a different room. As expected, the familiar theme of pure silver and gold remained unchanged, filling the space with its timeless elegance. However, this room was also filled with what looked like laboratory equipment from my past life.
"So, what do you have in mind?" I asked, curious on what powers she planned to test me for. Without a word, she spun around on her heel, a steel sword now in her hand, the steel edge glimmering under the harsh light of the room.
"I'm almost certain you've retained your regeneration~" She said, an innocent smile playing at her lips as she pranced towards me, the sword aimed directly at my arm. The blade shot forwards, a visible blur, barely scraping the surface of my skin. A soft red trickled from the newly formed cut.
Uriel's brows shot upwards, her eyes widening in disbelief as she scrambled for a test tube on a nearby table. With the tube clutched in her hand, she rushed towards me, aiming it at the blood steadily dripping from my arm.
"Uhm—is there a reason for this part?" I asked, still stunned by the sheer speed of her strike. Blood dripped slowly into the tube, and as I watched, the cut on my arm began to sizzle before sealing completely.
"Well, honestly, you've never bled before. A sword like that would normally shatter before it even made contact with you. So, I wanted to take the rare opportunity to harvest some of your blood and test it." As she finished speaking, I watched silently as the contained blood sizzled away into steam.
Slightly surprised, Uriel lifted the tube to eye level, letting out a light, 'Huh?' The blood had completely vanished. A pout spread across her face as she disappointedly set the test tube back on the rack.
Ignoring her pout, I decided to voice my curiosities, "So, despite my power having shattered... How come I retain my immortality?" Her pout vanished, replaced by a beaming smile as she heard my question. Apparently a simple thing like asking her a question cures her depression.
"I'm glad you asked, Lord!" She moved gracefully away from the table closing in on me. "It's a bit complex so I will explain it in simple terms."
"Before creation, you existed in a void, all alone as an omnipotent will. Time had not yet come into being, and therefore you remained there for an endless period of time. Eventually, you got bored. Sacrificing a fragment of your own metaphorical flesh, you created existence."
"So, I am existence and existence is me?" I inquired, trying to grasp the enormity of it all.
"Not quite," she replied, her tone taking on a contemplative edge. "Your flesh only makes up Space and Time, fundamental structures of the universe. Your physical body is the fabric of the universe, its foundation. Space is constantly expanding and growing and so when your physical form takes damage the universe rushes to repair it, ensuring its existence by keeping you alive."
"Meaning it's possible for me to die but incredibly difficult to complete the task?" Uriel nodded, "But then, if my physical body did die would that mean the end of existence?"
She thought for a moment, ensuring the answer she gave me was accurate, "If you were to die, the universe would remain however, its expansion would halt."
"Though, your death would still be a cataclysmic event, depending on the amount of power your avatar contain anyway." She quickly added.
"Also considering that I'm only an avatar of my true self... What happens to me when I die?" I asked, slightly nervous any existence of 'Atlas' would be destroyed immediately as 'Caelus' formed a new avatar.
Biting onto her thumb nail her eyes narrowed quizzically, "I'm not sure. It's something us angels have never had to consider before now."
"Considering my body self heals will my regalia be something along the lines of... Regeneration?" I spoke up once more, deciding this would be the best time to get any questions I had off of my chest.
"It should be 'Immortality!' Uriel shouted pridefully.
"Calm down Uriel, we don't want our Lord garnering too much attention now." Uriel pouted, the source of the voice, Michael. Michael stood, leaning in the doorway. "I've got your living arrangements planned, Lord."
Soon after him, Gabriel entered the room, "Your access into Mythoria has been accepted, Lord. I just need to know what regalia I should put down on the application form." My gaze flickered across the three disbelief flashing as I struggled to understand how they worked so quickly.
"You may put, 'Regeneration.' Thank you, Gabriel." I responded, watching his tears of joys erupt as my thanks sunk into him, from my corner Uriel stared jealously. "Thank you too, Uriel." I added quickly, not wanting her to keep staring at me so sadly.
"It's all in day's work for you, Lord." Michael added, swiftly shifting from his relaxed position and moving towards me.
Reaching into his inner blazer pocket he pulled out a small rectangular device. "A cell phone?" My gaze flicking curiously between him and the phone.
"Every young teen needs a way to interact with their peers, right?" He said. "Plus, this also has the key for your residence and the money you'll be using." He added those lasts parts quietly, as if they were unimportant.
With joy pumping through my veins, I eagerly swiped the device from him. Like a deer in the headlights, shock ran through me as a shiver, unable to grasp the reality of attending a high school—albeit in a world full of dangerous monsters and supernatural powers.... But who cares! I was living the life of my dreams!
"When do you plan to leave, My Lord. We can have it arranged right this moment, if you so wished?" Gabriel announced, bowing slightly in respect. He reminded me of a knight at his liege's side, loyal 'till the end.
