Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Training Throughout the Year

(Bellz pov)

The next couple of weeks after the conversation I had with Urpie was done by training. Rachel and Maxime would be coming by now and then, but the majority of times it would just be Lille and I getting trained by father.

Sometimes Lilly would leave with mother to have some more general lessons in Magic. Father was still Lilly's magic instructor when it comes to applying wind magic in combat. But mother who had a higher degree of understanding when it comes to magic would be teaching her everything else.

As for me and Urpie? Wełl...

"Come on Bellz! You got this!"

I was currently in the process of doing my third set of pushups while Urpie was giving me words of encouragement in the back of my mind.

"You should feel lucky Urpie!"

"Yeah I know, I don't have to do annoying exercises like this."

"Well maybe you should!"

We discovered that thanks to us sharing one mind and somewhat one body we both benefited from this training. As I was building muscles from training so was Urpie. When she was the one in control she noticed that she had gained some strength and it would probably be the same if for me if she was the one doing the training.

"By the way Bellz?"

"Yes?" I collapsed on the ground after completing my 100 pushups.

"I think I discovered one of my instinctive spells last night when you were asleep."

"What kind spell is it?"

"Well I think it might be a healing spell."

"Healing?"

"Last night as I was reading the books I got a deep paper cut. And I felt this weird warm feeling rushing through me and when I looked at the wound closed before my eyes."

"Wow that's cool!" I thought for a bit and then asked her. "Do you think I could use the instinctive spells that you unlock and vise versa?"

"I don't know... only time will tell. But from what I have gathered from what we overheard Magdala talk about magic it would probably be impossible as my primary element is water and yours is fire. We are opposites." She wasn't comfortable of calling Magdala mother yet.

She had said that even if she was her mother in this life she didn't feel like she had the right yet to call herself Magdala or Tons daughter.

"True...but the..."

"Bellz! Stop lazing around and get back to swinging your sword!" My father suddenly said as he saw me just laying on the floor staring at the roof.

"Yes father!" I shouted and returned my training.

This was our routine for the next coming months. I woke up ate breakfast, trained, ate lunch, trained, ate dinner then read some books.

My level of reading was quite high now and I had started to read more and more advanced books from our rich library. During the night while I was sleeping Urpie would sometimes continue reading the books and experiment with her magic as much as she could.

Speaking of her, we discovered that after the day we had our conversation our coexistence became more of a symbiotic relationship. It seemed like that we had been struggling over who would have control of this body like two parasites fighting to consume the other.

But now she no longer had days were she would fade away or me not being aware that she was in control while I was sleeping.

When I was asleep I sometimes could find myself in that white space with a huge display showing me exactly what she was seeing and hearing. I wasn't able to talk to her unless she chose to talk to me but it didn't really bother me that much as I was mostly just sleeping during that time anyways.

As the month went on and we got better and better with the sword father had one day when Maxime and Rachel had joined us for training said. "Today we move on to the next step of your training. Our goal is to teach you how to handle as many weapons as possible but today I want you three to choose a weapon that will be your primary weapon of choice."

I looked over at Lilly and Maxime. Both looked nervous and excited over the thought of finding something that would be their weapon of choice. As for me...I already new what I was going to choose. I had seen it in the armory a few ago when I was helping father gathering some training gear for a sparing session.

Speaking of sparring session, Maxime has yet to defeat Lilly in their duel.

But enough of that. The weapon I had seen was something I never thought I would find in this world.

It was a rifle. Or more like it looked like a rifle.

"Now then we have emptied the armory of every kind of weapon so choose carefully. It's okay to switch later on of course if your choice doesn't feel right. Rachel and I will assist you finding what might fit you the best as we continue our training throughout the years." Ton walked up to a massive great sword and picked it up.

"This used to be my first weapon but later I found out my style of fighting better fits the axe." He said as he swung the massive sword with one hand. "Ah this brings back memories." He said with a nostalgic tone. "Hey Rachel! Remember how I killed the Shadow Phoenix with one swing of this sword? Ah good old times..."

"Killed with one swing?" Rachel asked as she lifted her eyebrow. "We seem to have different memory of that time."

"Well..." A bead of sweat trickled down his brow as he was about to defend himself.

"If it wasn't for Magdala Terry and I you would have diead that time. You completely ignored the plan Terry had made and just rushed in. Magdla was furious afterwards."

"It did die though!"

"Yes, and then came back to life and severed both your legs..."

"...well...yes..."

"Father..." Lilly looked at him and then said. "You are quite stupid sometimes huh?"

"Noooo! Even my little princess is going to start looking down on me..." He collapsed on ground looking utterly defeated.

"It's okay father." Lilly walk up to him and patted his back. "Even finding out you are a little stupid and pathetic I still love you."

"Lilly... saying that doesn't make me feel better...that was quite hurtful of you..."

I couldn't keep it in any more and started laughing which got Maxime and Rachel to laugh too.

"... Maxime and Bellz I want five hundred pushups, sit ups and squats each after you have chosen your weapon."

That immediately made us shut up.

He cleared his throat and got up and turned to us. "Now, make your choice."

I immediately walked up to the rifle. It was a little to big for me as it was made for a grown up. It had a similar shaped as a ArmaLite AR-50 sniper rifle but had different kinds crystals embedded in sides of the red and brown colour but also a colour less crystal at the ammunition chamber. It didn't seem like there was anyway to put in any ammunition, but either way this was a weapon I was familiar with.

"The dwarven kill staff huh." Father had seen me inspecting the rifle and walked up to me. "It is a popular weapon among the dwarven folk and some beastkin as well. But Bellz..."

"I want this weapon!" I said with a resolute tone.

"I... it's..." Something was off in his voice.

"That weapon." Rachel walked up to it and caressed its side. "It used to be Terry's."

"Terry?" I asked as I saw that even Maxime seemed to know something. I was expecting Rachel to explain but suddenly I heard mothers voice at the entrance to the the training hall saying.

"Terry was Rachels brother. He is no longer with us..."

I turned to her and asked. "What happened?"

"He past away saving us three." I noticed that neither Rachel, mother or father seemed comfortable talking about it so I didn't ask anything more.

"I am okay with you using Terry's kill staff. But it is not an easy thing to master."

"I can do it!" I said with confidence. "I will use the rifle!"

"Rifle?" Both Rachel and Father asked.

"Rifle!?" I heard Maxime say in a little more shocked tone, but I didn't think any of it.

"I mean kill staff..." I scratched the back of my head.

"How would they know what a rifle is? I don't even know what it is. I have seen some things from your memory but...oh well, if that is what you think will be the best go for it. I would have chosen a spear." Urpie said in the back of my mind.

"Well now it is my choice! You can have yours later...maybe." I answered.

"Well...for starters then Bellz." Father walked over to a bow. "You will start with this."

A bow? Well...I did get it why I should start with a bow to train my accuracy but I was quite confident in my accuracy but I has never shot a bow before.

"To start with Bellz I want you to shoot one hundred arrows from a twenty meter distance. When you can hit around 80 out of one hundred of them we will increase the distance."

My next training was decided and I was feeling a lot of excitement.

"But first...five hundred pushups, sit ups and squats."

Shit!
