Lucky woke up to unfamiliar surroundings, unable to determine how long she had been asleep. There were no windows in the cave, the only light came from glowing orbs placed on tables around the room. Each glowing orb sat on a wooden stand, making them look like fancy, ultramodern lamps. She wondered what powered them, then decided she probably didn't want to know.
The previous day's events came trampling back in to her mind, and she considered going back to sleep. Maybe she would wake up back at the Pack House, next to Traven, with a yellow dog and a black puppy who had somehow managed to squeeze in between them. This was the first time in over a month that she had woken up without them, unless she counted the time she had come out of a wolfsbane induced nap and found herself in a smelly barn.
