As I approached the pool, I scanned the area frantically, my eyes searching for Ryder.
"Ryder!" I screamed. "Where are you, honey?"
I moved closer towards the darker part of the poolside, if he was bleeding out, my blood was the only thing that could heal him.
If he was hurt, I was the only person that could nurse him back to health because as pissed off and broken as I was, if he was forced to do this to us, I would forgive him.
Because in many ways, he was still that kind hearted weak six year old who promised to protect me and he was still that seventeen year old who told me he loved me while I was wearing that muddy dress.
What we built was something of a miracle…a dynasty that rose from the ashes of pain and hurtful parents.
Our story deserved a happy ending.
"Ry…"
And then, I saw him. He was standing at the edge of the pool, his back to me, but it was what he was doing that made me pause.
He was by the pool, kissing someone else.
