"Are they vampires too? That makes two already." Felix mused, his thoughts swirling with unease. "I need to be more cautious whenever I encounter something like this. I was lucky they didn't have time to see through my act, or things could've gone differently." He muttered inwardly, tightening his grip on little Lily's hand as they neared the playground.
With a deep sigh, he exhaled the tension coiling within him, but Lily, perceptive as ever, caught on immediately. "What's wrong? You've been spacing out." Her soft voice broke through his thoughts.
Felix glanced down at her, meeting her curious gaze. "It's nothing, just thinking about life."
Lily pouted slightly, clearly unsatisfied with his vague response. "Looking at it, don't you feel nervous? You still haven't found your parents, and night is drawing closer. If they don't show up, I won't have a choice but to drop you off at the police station." Felix's tone was calm, but his words struck a nerve.
