Chapter 21 - The temporary bartender

Felix's gaze remained locked onto the door where the mysterious man had disappeared, his mind churning with curiosity and unease.

But before he could dwell on it further, a faint movement behind him stirred the air. His senses sharpened.

Without turning completely, he angled his head just enough to catch sight of the approaching figure from the corner of his eye. Recognizing the presence, he exhaled and turned back toward the bar rail.

It was Milo, his friend now looked visibly exhausted, the weight of the night's work etched into the slight droop of his shoulders. He sank onto a stool at the other side of the barr rail across Felix, his right elbow propped on the bar rail, cheek resting against his palm, a posture of someone desperately seeking a moment's reprieve.

Felix, never one to ignore a friend in distress, broke the silence. "What's up? You look drained."
