Chapter 21 - Scream (2)

The scarred man struggled against the titan's grip. His muscles strained from the relentless effort he was putting in to free himself. He tried to thrust his legs forward, a desperate attempt to kick and break free, but his efforts were of no use. His feet barely even glazed its massive form, like a bug trying to defeat a giant. Seeing that the effort he was putting in was totally of no use, he then tried to twist his torso... in hopes of slipping out of its massive hand, but nothing worked. The titan's grip over him was unyielding and astonishing.

He knew it from the start... deep down within his core, he knew that his struggles were meaningless, he could never in his life defeat a titan. After all, he was nothing more than just a mere mortal... against a creature such as a titan. He did not even possess the powers of the relics, nor did he possess any extraordinary abilities to aid him. He was just a man... flesh and blood against that hideous sub-human-looking abomination that was defiantly non-human.

His vision flickered, his thoughts turning hazy as the titan's grip tightened, partially cutting off the blood flow to his brain. He felt his consciousness slowly starting to fade away... his senses turned hazy. His nostrils were assaulted by the nauseating and irritating scent of blood that was emitting from the titan's hideous hand.

He was completely blinded, the titan's hand covered his entire face in its grip, threatening to crush it into a paste of bone and flesh. His eyes could only see the darkness and nothing more than that.

But he felt a new sensation—the feeling of pain... a different type of pain. His soundings were surrounded by immense heat that made his body sweat even faster than he currently was. Regardless of the titan's grip over his head, covering his vision, blinding him from his surroundings, he saw a faint light that escaped through the titan's hand and reached the scarred man's retinas.

'Finally,' the man thought, that single word echoed through his brain, 'it's happening'

He felt the temperature around him increase rapidly, the heat soon becoming unbearable, reaching to the point where his skin scorched, the pain searing torment that spread through his entire body. His fat started to melt, a feeling so painful that it doubled his agony.

The Titan's grip loosened slightly as if it itself was affected by the heat... but it still gripped him strongly, preventing any chances of his escape.

A painful groan escaped under his breath, his eyes teared up from the agone and he let out a muffled scream around the titan's hand, "AAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!"

He felt every fibre of the pain that was being inflicted on him from the heat that slowly burnt his skin and cooked his flesh, inch by inch. It was torture, an agony so bad that it tested his entire definition of endurance. But even in his suffering, he felt a strange sense of solace. The pain, the agony... meant that something had changed.

The titan soon let out a deafening, shuttering roar that almost ruptured the scarred man's eardrums. Its grip over his head tightened again and it threw him aside with all of its titan might, as if throwing a ball, like he was a hindrance for it and not its future snack.

The scarred man's body flew aside at a high speed, he couldn't react, as the speed of it all was so great that his mortal brain could not even comprehend it. All he saw was the blurry world. Soon, his flight ended as his back slammed into the thick trunk of a monstrous tree. The impact reverberated through his entire body. The force of the collision was so great that it caused him to expel all of the little remaining air that was stored in his lungs; his eyes rolled back to his head, his jaw opened wide, and then, with a final shudder, he lost his consciousness.
