Chapter 7 - The End of the Good Ol' Days Pt 5

I tensed. What did they mean by that? Before I could react, something pierced my arm—a sudden, sharp injection that sent a searing heat through my veins. My vision blurred, my muscles tensed involuntarily, and an intense wave of nausea and pain crashed over me.

"What... is this?" I gasped, my voice hoarse. My heart pounded, and sweat beaded on my forehead. My entire body felt like it was on fire from the inside out.

"Relax, Yoshi," Walker's voice came through the intercom, far too calm. "This is just the next phase of the trial."

Trial? This wasn't part of the deal. I struggled to move, to break free from the confines of the pod, but my limbs felt like they were weighed down by lead. A dull, aching pressure built in my skull, and for a moment, my senses sharpened—colors became more vivid, sounds became crisper, and I could hear the subtle hum of electricity running through the room.

Then, the pain truly hit.

I gritted my teeth, veins pulsing with the unknown substance. My muscles tensed, expanding and contracting beyond my control. My nails dug into my palms as I tried to fight against whatever was happening to me.

"He's reacting faster than anticipated," another voice muttered from beyond the pod.

"Increase the stabilizers," Walker ordered.

There was another injection—a cold rush this time, as if lava had replaced the fire. The pain increased tenfold. My breathing became ragged and uneven.

Summoning every ounce of strength, I forced my limbs to move. My fingers curled into fists. My vision swam, but I pressed my knuckles against the pod door and hit as hard as I could. It didn't budge. A metallic clang echoed in my ears as a locking mechanism engaged.

Panic surged through me. My heartbeat thundered in my ears. Shen—Teng Shen. I had to get back to her. I had to escape.

I had to get out of here.

I had to focus

I had to focus on my chi

I hadn't done this ever since that fateful day that fateful day where i started my new life with Shen

I had to block out the pain. Block out the fear. Block out the world around me, and devote myself to doing 1 action

A single punch, and the glass shattered. Scientists screamed as shards flew. i saw Dr. Walker run out before I landed on my hands, which were now not only injured by the initial hit of the reinforced glass but also by landing on the glass below. My lungs were burning, and my body was still in pain from the effects of the injection.

Security burst into the room. They carried large weapons that looked like futuristic guns

They stood ready to fire, but I wasn't about to let them shoot me

I rushed one of the guards before the rest could shoot and took their gun before shooting them in the arm

I turned around to dodge shots from the rest before something hit me in the back, more like stabbed me in the back

I turned around and saw something I never thought I would live to see in this life

A man with a missing arm was stabbing me in the back with his other, now metal, hand, and in place of the now gone arm were sparking wires

I was fighting cyborgs?

Damn it i fighting cyborgs

I'm not left with much time with my thoughts as the rest of security keeps firing regardless of my confusion

I didn't have time to fight; I just needed to escape, so i ran with the gun still in my hand

Authors note:

Leave your thoughts and suggestions on the chapter

This lil beginning should only last 1 or 2 more chapters, depending on how much i want to stuff into the next chapter
