Chapter 58 - Chapter 59: Treating Nuclear Weapons as Nothing

Chapter 59: Treating Nuclear Weapons as Nothing

Alice never would have imagined that the grotesque bioweapon created by the Umbrella Corporation would turn out to be her comrade, Matt!

Matt stared blankly at the situation before him, only managing to recognize Alice.

"Alice?"

He gawked at Chang Wei in disbelief. What was going on?

And could someone tell him whether he was in heaven or some other place? Why did he wake up to see an angel and find himself floating mid-air?

Then, he was unceremoniously tossed next to Alice by Chang Wei. Alice quickly helped Matt to his feet, her expression and gaze toward Chang Wei completely changed.

Jill, on the other hand, remained the same. In fact, the female police officer's expression toward Chang Wei had grown even more intense, as if she were ready to devour him.

Despite Jill's good looks and excellent qualities, she was uninterested in the numerous admirers who pursued her. They all seemed the same to her. Meeting Chang Wei for the first time, aside from his jaw-dropping looks, his quirky demeanor had left a unique impression.

Now, Jill felt he was even more intriguing—he was an angel. She wondered, if she rode an angel, could she ascend to heaven?

Even if not, riding an angel would still make her life worth living!

Such audacious and irreverent thoughts, intent on desecrating the divine, enraged Chang Wei.

"I treated you as a friend, but you were eyeing my body!"

"Did you launch the nuke?"

Chang Wei's golden eyes suddenly turned toward Supervisor Lewis Witt.

His telepathy not only revealed Jill's thoughts but also uncovered the minds of everyone present, including Supervisor Lewis Witt.

"Yes, hahahaha! Even an angel is doomed against a nuke! If the company can acquire the angel's corpse, it will surely lead to even greater advancements!"

Supervisor Lewis Witt ripped off his headset and smashed it to pieces.

Such insanity caused Alice and the Umbrella soldiers to leap up, scrambling and stumbling in panic. Launching a nuke now meant everyone would be buried together!

Chang Wei wasn't surprised by Lewis Witt's crazed actions. Clones were like that, their minds consumed by loyalty to the company, without concern for consequences. Trying to kill a god was the height of their arrogance and folly.

Human recklessness and boldness could often defy belief.

It was too late to escape now. The nuke had already been launched, and everyone could only pin their hopes on Chang Wei, praying that this angel could perform a miracle.

"Mortals have fallen so far as to consort with demons…"

Chang Wei spoke, dramatically.

"But mortal weapons can never harm heavenly beings."

Rain began to pour from the sky. A small, airborne tactical nuclear warhead pierced through the downpour, its path carved into a white streak by the displaced water. Once the fiery glow of the warhead became visible, there was no escaping its blast radius—unless one was a supersonic biological entity.

Chang Wei, of course, could achieve such speeds, but there was no need to dodge the nuke anymore.

The warhead flew above the group, and the light grew impossibly bright.

"It's over!"

"Lord save us!"

Everyone dropped to their knees again, overwhelmed by despair yet clinging to prayers. Supervisor Lewis Witt stared wide-eyed, desperate to see Chang Wei, this so-called angel, torn to shreds by the nuclear explosion.

However, the immense light, heat, shockwave, and radiation all disintegrated as they neared the group.

Everyone witnessed a nearly transparent, inverted bowl-shaped shield enveloping them, holding back the destruction and death outside!

Outside the shield, chaos reigned: torrential rain, fierce winds, and the ground quaking violently. But inside, it was calm and serene.

"Lord above!"

This miraculous scene, paired with Chang Wei's calm and composed demeanor, left everyone utterly awestruck.

Chang Wei hadn't done anything at all. It was as if even a nuke wasn't worth his effort. Had he so much as raised a hand or shown strain in his expression, it might have seemed more human. But as things stood, he appeared utterly unfathomable and invincible.

After all, even a low-yield nuke is still a nuclear weapon. From Chang Wei's performance, even the largest hydrogen bomb might only leave him slightly disheveled.

Perhaps… he would still appear as composed as he was now, treating it like a gentle spring breeze.

In reality, Chang Wei's telekinesis had endured a massive impact. The force of tens of millions of tons was dissolved by his psychic power, and the radiation was blocked by his tightly woven molecular shield. It was taxing, but Chang Wei quickly adapted to the exertion and even began to handle it with ease.

"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

Supervisor Lewis Witt glared, pounding futilely on the shield. Naturally, it didn't budge.

Moments later, the nuclear blast subsided. Everyone survived, completely unharmed. They could scarcely believe such a bizarre event had occurred.

When they returned, they could brag for a lifetime:

"Grandson/granddaughter, back in my day, I survived at the center of a nuclear explosion. I saw it firsthand—wasn't much, just a bit bright, nothing special."
