The Experiment Continues
It has been decades since our kind was forced beneath the surface, our defeat by the humans still a scar upon our history. My role as royal scientist and judge demands innovation, progress—even if it means walking the razor's edge of morality. Today marks a milestone in my most ambitious experiment yet.
Using fragments of my very essence—pieces of my hands, steeped in the magic that defines my being—I sought to create life. I theorized that the magic within me contained sufficient DNA to forge new forms. The procedure was harrowing, the precision required daunting. Yet, the results… They exceed even my most optimistic projections.
In the span of mere months, the two beings matured within their containment tubes. Their growth was accelerated, faster than any natural process. And then, they awoke. Living. Breathing. Watching me with eyes that seemed to pierce my soul.
I named them simply: S-1 and P-2. Hastily chosen, numerical identifiers based on the order of their awakening. Names would only complicate matters. I cannot afford attachments. Not yet.
I relocated them to separate containment chambers immediately after their release from the tubes. I am no fool—anomalies are always a risk. Should one destabilize, the other must remain safe, for the sake of the project.
I must return to my work now. They are alive, yes. But the question remains—what is their purpose? What have I truly created?
