"What's so funny?"
Her laugh must have snapped the woman out of her daze which made her snap at Coco for hearing her laugh.
Coco was merely imagining how much money she would make if she were to bring two tigers, and that imagination alone made her snicker under breath. She wasn't laughing at the woman, she was laughing at how rich she would be!
Of course, the woman doesn't know this which made Coco let out an annoyed huff.
"I wasn't laughing at you, but whatever." Coco tried her best not to roll her eyes at the moment, not wanting the beautiful woman to feel offended then she asked again, "So? How many nights do I have for one gold coin?"
The woman rolled her pretty eyes at Coco and crossed her arms once again, "Twenty nights. If you're going to reserve and rent a room then it would only be ten days and eleven nights."
"Oooooh! Does that mean we can sleep here whenever we want, Coco?" Lala asked, her transparent red wings flapping with excitement as she flew to Coco's head and perched herself on top of Coco's head, "That would be amazing! I don't have to worry about you sleeping on the ground~"
Again, Coco can't respond to Lala's questions because they are still out in the open so all she could do is nod her head, the smile on her face never wavering.
The woman behind the desk could tell that there was something wrong with Coco, the usual temperament of the Hughes in front of her was nowhere in sight.
Normally, Coco Hughes would be by the pub in the next room and would be downing a whole barrel of alcohol by now, but that wasn't the case. She was actually asking for a room and didn't even step a foot inside the pub.
Something was up and the woman could already tell, but she wasn't sure what was up with her.
Coco smiled widely when she heard how many days she would have in just a gold coin and already thought of the days ahead.
"Sounds awesome." Coco beamed at the woman and slipped another gold coin at her, making the woman's eyes go wide again, "I'd like to reserve the best room there is, please. Whether I come in for the day or the night, keep the room clean and don't let anyone come inside."
The woman wordlessly nodded her head, completely sure that her voice wouldn't work if she tried to answer Coco's request.
"How much is my debt again?" Coco asked, watching as the woman scrambled to take the two gold coins and put it somewhere under the desk.
She has no idea how much money she owes to the owner of the inn and how much alcohol she has drunk everyday for the past three years so asking someone who's working in the inn was one of the best options she has, but one thing is for sure..
My liver is probably as small as a pebble by now. Coco thought, a sweat dropping on her cheek.
She only drank alcoholic beverages to celebrate in her past life and that was only twice or thrice a year. Those three times would only include just two cans of beer, too, so her liver was doing pretty good.
However, the former Coco in this life? Her liver is as done as a dried peanut.
Just thinking about a possible cancer because of Coco Hughes's alcoholism had given her a headache.
"What's wrong, Coco?" Lala asked, sensing her human friend's sudden change of mood, "Are you okay? Are you hungry? Are you hurt?"
She was about to answer Lala and opened her mouth, only to shut it again when the woman bought out another logbook under the desk and slammed it on the wooden surface, alarming Lala and making her scream.
"Wahh!" The fairy cried out, clutching Coco's hair tightly, "Why did you have to do that, human?! You almost killed me! What would you do if you killed me?! Lulu wouldn't like it if I died out of shock!"
"You have approximately five hundred gold coins and three hundred silvers to pay." The woman spoke, not aware of the fairy who was screaming at her and cussing her out.
Coco's eyes went wide when she heard how much she owes the inn. Five hundred gold coins? Five? Hundred? Gold? Coins?! That's a lot!
"Can.. Can you tell me why?" The black haired young woman uttered out, unwilling to believe the unbelievable amount of money owed to the owner— was it all because of the alcohol? It couldn't be, right?
"Gladly." The woman smirked and flipped the page, "Let's see here.. You have drunk almost three barrels of our beer every day and night for three hundred seventy days. You have done this for three years and each barrel costs one hundred silver."
"Oh, my god.. Was it all because of the alcohol? And what? I drank that shit for day and night?" Coco has never desired to punch someone so hard in the face for the past twenty two years of her life in her past life, well, that is.. Until now.
"No." The woman hummed out and looked back at the logbook, "It says here.. Oh! All the tables, chairs, and furniture of the inn that you have destroyed for the past three years are also added to your increasing debt."
Please kill me now.. Coco groaned and held her head.
"The interest is the three hundred silver coins and it will go up to six hundred if you don't pay your debt soon." The woman smiled wickedly, the corner of her lips curling into a smug smirk.
"Why would you even sell me alcohol despite knowing that I couldn't pay it back?" Coco asked, her eyebrows furrowing in frustration.
Just how useless Coco Hughes could be? Not only was she abusive, but she also has so much money she owes!
