Chapter 8 - Level 1 Dungeon Quest

"Healing Bug... I want to use it. I have to manually activate it, right?"

He opened up the description of his Spirit. This process was easy, since it happened as soon as he intended for it.

---

[Spirits: 1]

[Unstable Spirits: --]

[Common Spirits: 1]

[Rare Spirits: --]

[Elite Spirits: --]

[Superior Spirits: --]

[Legendary Spirits: --]

---

He glanced at the 'Common Spirits' stat, opening it automatically.

---

[Common Spirits: 1]

>[Healing Bug]

[Description: A small, golden cicada that has been alive for thousands of years. Throughout its lifetime, it has consumed enough nectar to create a healing concoction within its body. This bug grants its user a significant burst of natural healing ability upon manual command. The effectiveness of regeneration depends on how much nectar the cicada has in storage]

---

After reading through its description in detail, Sin attempted to use Healing Bug manually.

"Healing Bug... work!" He muttered with enthusiasm.

[Spirit "Healing Bug" is currently unavailable]

A message appeared in front of him. This message was slightly different compared to the others.

It was slimmer, and more of a transparent text bubble than a panel.

Sin assumed that from these text bubbles, the system could communicate to him directly--as if it was conscious.

"Huh? Can I ask why?"

[Spirit "Healing Bug" requires time to naturally replenish its nectar stores. You have recently used all of its nectar stores]

"How much did it have?"

[1203 year's worth of healing nectar]

"Jeez... so I guess I'll have to recover naturally then, huh? I guess rest and recovery is the only option I have left."

[Incorrect]

"What?"

[Supernatural power "Natural healing ability" no longer exists. It has evolved into Spirit "Healing Bug"]

"... That's absurd! So I can never heal myself naturally again? That is... bad. Really bad!" Sin spent a while thinking that over.

The implications of that statement were horrifying. This meant that his health would always be weighing on his Healing Bug Spirit.

If he was abruptly injured and needed time to rest, his Spirit would be the only thing to help him.

The system deemed it to be an evolution of his own natural healing ability, and Sin agreed for the most part.

After all, his natural healing ability would definitely not have saved him back there in his fight with Agneil.

However, it being an active spell was quite a downside. Still, it seemed Sin had no other option.

He could only hope that the Spirit could get better over time, but even that was only a theory.

Letting out an exhausted sigh, Sin closed his eyes, powerless to do anything except sleep and wait it out until his Spirit was replenished.

However, as his mind began to become unconscious, he was abruptly awoken.

*Ding*

[Sleep is not permitted during this duration of time]

"What?"

["Level 1 Dungeon" quest is currently underway. Sleeping during active quests is not permitted]

[With every level achievement of increasing increments, a new "Level Dungeon" quest is allocated]

"Show me my current quest..."

Sin looked at the quest with furrowed brows. "What the... how am I meant to do all of this here?" He was perplexed for a moment.

A small white light appeared in the air in front of his face. He reached forward, grabbing a silver key.

*Ding*

[You have received the Level 1 Dungeon key]

Sin paused for a moment, thinking over the panel in front of him.

There were a bunch of exercises. It wasn't something he was unfamilar with. In fact, exercise was the main source of his power. Without having learned almost anything about Spirit Energy all these years, Sin had devoted himself to obsessed physical training.

He would stick to mostly bodyweight training every day. The only time he would train with weights was if he stumbled into a gym while traveling through a city--or if he decided to create some contraptions for himself in the jungles.

Which, obviously was a rare occurrence.

However, he was currently quite injured. He knew he wasn't close to dying or anything like that, but the pain of having been ruptured from all angles was still lingering on his skin like hot coals.

Of course, any movement made the pain flare up like crazy as well.

But, it seemed he didn't have much of a choice, since the punishment was literally death...

Looking at the rewards, they all looked quite promising. Strength, speed, and stamina were always good to have.

On top of that, Sin felt quite eager to see how much a single stat point would increase his actual prowess.

After all, all the years of training he had put his body through, his stats were in the single digits for the most part.

This meant that a single point increase to something like his Strength stat would be a 10% increase in overall strength, since he currently had 10 points in it.

Although one point didn't sound like a lot, a 10% increase in strength would be a massive jump.

Sin also noticed the final reward, which caught him off guard slightly.

'A Spirit Transmutation Stone? And unlike the other rewards, it's an "Automatic" reward instead of a "Quest specific" one.' He decided to ask the system, seeing as it had helped him out before.

[Spirit Transmutation Stone description: A stone that allows the user to change between the nature of their Spirits if available. For example, if used on a passive Spirit, the Spirit will then become active--and vice versa. However, abilities and descriptions of the Spirit will change upon use to balance its power accordingly]

[Automatic reward description: As opposed to a Quest specific reward, an Automatic reward is something that all Level Quests provide]

Sin's eyes widened as he heard this description.

"If that's right... I can use one of those two stones to make my Healing Bug Spirit into a passive Spirit. That way, it should heal me at all times. Since its description will change, I doubt it will heal me as powerfully as it did the first time, but it must still be superior to my natural healing ability, right?"

He wasn't going to wait to test that theory out. Despite his body screaming at him to not move and sending countless signals of pain, Sin stood up and pushed the silver key in his hand into the air.

As he did this, a keyhole appeared in front--allowing the key to slot right in.

With a twist and a click, the keyhole suddenly expanded in size and swallowed Sin whole.

Before he knew it, Sin was in a world of white.

*Ding*

[You now have permanent access to a new domain: Gym]

Sin's eyes expanded with surprise, at first, but then a swelling eagerness as he saw a giant room filled with exercise equipment.

This... this was like a dream come true!

Squat racks, benches, barbells, machines, and treadmills galore!

This was the dungeon? That was quite a dreadful name for such a pleasant place!

For a moment, Sin forgot all of the pain in his body. Without hesitation, he limped toward a bench stack to begin his quest, muttering under his breath with excitement:

"I can come here whenever I want? Khehe! Thats fucking awesome!"
