Chapter 34 – "Secrets Revealed"
It was a sunny afternoon at Kris Jenner's house, where Kendall, Kylie, Kim, Kourtney and Khloé were gathered for a typical family gathering. The children played in the backyard while the sisters sat in the spacious living room. The conversation flowed in a relaxed manner, covering a variety of subjects, but soon the topic of Jacob returned to the table.
"Jacob is so interesting," Kendall commented, scrolling through her cell phone. "Did you guys know that Mark Owen guy he mentioned the other day wrote a book about the mission that killed Bin Laden?"
Khloé, who was holding a glass of sparkling water, almost spilled the liquid when she heard that. "Wait, what?"
"Yes, look here!" Kendall turned her cell phone to show the page of an online article. "Mark Owen is actually the pseudonym of a former SEAL named Matt Bissonnette. He was part of the team that raided Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan."
Kylie's eyes widened and she leaned in to get a better look at the screen. "This is insane! Was he on one of the most famous operations in modern history?"
Kim crossed her arms and gave Khloé a curious look. "And Jacob said he was his commander for a while. I wonder if he was there too?"
Kourtney, who had been quiet until then, finally spoke up. "If he was, it makes sense that he wouldn't say anything. These operations are top secret. He probably can't even confirm it."
Khloé felt a mix of surprise and curiosity. Although she knew Jacob had an impressive military career, she had never asked him about the specific missions he had been involved in. He had always been tight-lipped about it, and she respected his privacy.
"I've never asked him about it," Khloé admitted, biting her bottom lip. "He does talk about things from his career, but they're usually training or team stories. Nothing as specific as… that."
— And you were never curious? — Kendall asked, still browsing articles on her phone.
Khloé hesitated before answering. — Of course I was, but I think it's the kind of thing he'll only tell if he wants to. I don't want to pressure him.
Kendall continued reading aloud. — It says here that the mission was conducted by a team from DEVGRU, which is basically the elite of the elite of the SEALs. If Jacob was there, that explains a lot about why he's so reserved and super capable.
— And so hot — Kylie joked, making her sisters laugh.
Kim, however, kept a serious look. — If he was really involved in this mission, that means he carries things that no one here can imagine. That must be why he has such a... powerful aura.
Khloé sighed, thinking about the weight Jacob had already carried in her life. She knew he had seen terrible things, but she never stopped to consider that he might have been involved in one of the most iconic and risky missions in recent history.
"Do you think I should ask?" Khloé finally asked, looking at her sisters.
Kourtney shook her head. "I don't think so. He'll tell you if and when he's ready."
"I agree with Kourtney," Kim said. "These things are very sensitive. If he hasn't mentioned them yet, it's probably because he can't or doesn't want to talk about them."
Kendall shrugged. "Maybe he doesn't mind sharing them with you. After all, you live together now."
Khloé thought for a moment, deciding that for now, she would respect Jacob's space.
That night, while Jacob and Khloé were having dinner together, she decided to bring up the subject lightly, without pressuring him.
"Today, my sisters and I were talking about that guy Mark Owen," she began, trying to sound casual.
Jacob looked up from his plate, his expression becoming wary. "Really? What did they say?"
"We found out he was on the mission that killed Bin Laden." She watched him closely, trying to catch any reaction on his face. Jacob nodded slowly, setting his fork aside.
"Yes, he was."
"What about you?" Khloé asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.
Jacob was silent for a moment, his eyes scanning hers. Finally, he answered, "Khloé, there are things in my career that are confidential, and this is one of them. What I can tell you is that I've worked with Mark and other exceptional operators on important missions. That was a long time ago, and my life is with you now, here."
Khloé nodded, respecting her answer. "I understand. I don't want to pressure you. I just want you to know that no matter what you've been through, I'm here for you."
Jacob gave her a small smile and held her hand across the table. "That means a lot to me, Khloé."
After dinner, as Jacob washed the dishes, Khloé watched him silently. Despite her natural curiosity, she knew there was a limit to what Jacob could share. What mattered most to her was the present they were building together, not his past, fascinating as it was.
That night, as they lay in bed, Jacob pulled her close and whispered, "Thank you for being so understanding with me."
Khloé smiled, snuggling into his arms. "Always."
And with that, she decided that even if she never found out all of Jacob's secrets, she was happy to have him by her side.
Chapter 35 – The Symbol of the Past
It was a quiet morning at Khloé and Jacob's house. While Jacob was in the backyard fixing the fence, Khloé decided to organize the closet where he kept some of his things. Among the old equipment, books, and boxes labeled with dates and places, a small red patch caught her eye.
The patch was vibrant, with the image of a Native American prominently displayed. Khloé frowned, trying to remember if Jacob had ever mentioned anything related to it. She held the item for a moment, admiring the details, before walking down the stairs and into the backyard.
"Jake?" she called, holding the patch in her hand.
Jacob glanced over his shoulder as he adjusted a piece of wood on the fence. "What's up, honey?"
"I was organizing some of your things and found this." She showed him the patch. "What does it mean?"
Jacob looked at the item in her hand, and a small smile appeared on his face. He stood up, wiping his hands on a cloth before picking up the patch.
"Oh, this." He held the patch between his fingers, turning it slowly. "This is the symbol of Red Squadron, the squadron I served in when I was in DEVGRU."
Khloé raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Red Squadron? You've never mentioned it before."
Jacob shrugged. "That's because it's not something I usually talk about, but since you found it, I guess it's okay to explain."
The two of them sat on the porch, and Jacob began to tell the story behind the patch.
"DEVGRU, as I mentioned before, is divided into squadrons. Each squadron has a specialty and a symbol that represents it. Red Squadron, the red squadron, is one of the oldest and most recognized. Our symbol is the Native American, which represents courage, strategy, and fighting spirit."
Khloé looked at the patch again, impressed. — And you were part of that squadron?
Jacob nodded. — Yes, for many years. We were responsible for some of the most challenging missions, both in terms of planning and execution. Being part of Red Squadron was not only an honor; it was also a huge burden.
"Bold?" she asked, leaning towards him.
"Yes." Jacob sighed. "Being in Red meant always being on the front lines, dealing with situations that could go wrong at any moment. And it also meant being called on for the most important missions, the ones that no one else could do."
Khloé placed her hand on his arm, noticing the serious tone in his voice. "It must have been a lot of pressure."
Jacob smiled slightly. "It was, but we had an incredible team. Every man in the squadron was exceptional at his job. It wasn't just a job; it was a way of life. We trusted each other completely, because our lives depended on it."
Khloé was silent for a moment, taking in the information. She had always known that Jacob had an impressive past, but finding out more details about his military life made her admire him even more.
"I never imagined how much you carried in your career," she finally said.
Jacob shrugged again, a modest smile on his face. "I don't think of it as a burden, Khloé. I chose this life because I wanted to protect my country and make a difference. But of course there were sacrifices."
"Sacrifices?" she asked, wanting to know more.
Jacob looked at the horizon, his eyes seemingly lost in distant memories. "I lost a lot of friends along the way. Men who were like brothers to me. No matter how much you train, how much you prepare, some things are inevitable."
Khloé squeezed his hand, feeling the depth of his words. "I'm sorry, Jake."
He looked at her and smiled, gently touching her face. "Don't worry about me, love. Today I'm here, with you, and that's what matters.
Khloé turned her attention back to the patch, her eyes curious. "Do you still keep in touch with the Red Squadron guys?"
"Some of them, yes." Jacob nodded. "Life has taken us on different paths, but whenever we can, we try to get together. It's a brotherhood that never breaks."
"That's amazing." She smiled. "And to think I'm dating someone so… awesome."
Jacob laughed, putting his arm around her. "I'm just a regular guy now, Khloé. I don't have to be that guy all the time."
"But he's still inside you, isn't he?" she asked, her gaze admiring.
"Maybe a little," he admitted, smiling.
After a while, Khloé took the patch back and looked at Jacob. "Can I have this?"
Jacob looked at her, surprised, but ended up laughing. "Sure, if you want."
"I want to put it in a special place." Something to remind me of how strong and amazing you are.
Jacob shook his head, chuckling softly. "You are something, Khloé Kardashian."
She smiled and kissed him softly. "And you are the man I admire the most every day."
With that, Khloé decided that the patch would be framed and placed in a special place in the house, as a silent tribute to the man she loved and the past that shaped him. Jacob, for his part, felt grateful to be with someone who understood and accepted him completely.
Chapter 36 – Unexpected Revelation
It was a sunny afternoon, and Khloé Kardashian was enjoying the day with True and Tatum in a park in Los Angeles. Wearing a casual set of jeans and a white T-shirt, she wore an accessory that seemed innocent: the red patch with the Red Squadron native Indian, which she had framed at home, but also made into a small stylized brooch to carry with her.
The paparazzi, as always, were attentive. While Khloé played with her children, the cameras captured every move. One click in particular caught the eye: a clear photo of the patch attached to her bag.
Hours later, the photos began to circulate on the internet. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the patch and began to speculate about its meaning. On military forums on Reddit, especially in the community dedicated to special operations, discussions intensified.
One user posted:
"Hey, has anyone else noticed the patch on Khloé Kardashian's bag? That's the DEVGRU Red Squadron symbol. How did she get that?"
Another responded:
"That patch is exclusive to Red Squadron operators. It has to be her boyfriend, Jacob Ward. This guy seems legit!"
The theories gained traction, and users began searching for more information about Jacob. Research revealed his past as a Navy SEAL and a member of DEVGRU. Details were limited due to the classified nature of his operations, but some information confirmed that he had served in the Red Squadron.
Late that afternoon, while Jacob was cooking dinner, Khloé was on the couch with her phone in hand. Suddenly, she started receiving messages from her sisters and friends commenting on the rumors on Reddit.
Kim:
"Khloé, have you seen what they're talking about on Reddit? Looks like they found out about Jacob's patch!" Kendall:
"Sis, the military people are freaking out. They found out about Jake's squad!"
Khloé's eyes widened. "Oh, no…" she mumbled, quickly standing up and walking over to Jacob in the kitchen.
"Jake, we have a problem," she said, showing him the posts on her phone.
Jacob stopped chopping vegetables and looked at the screen. He read the messages and Reddit posts calmly before sighing and smiling slightly.
"It's not really a problem, Khloé. I knew something like this would happen eventually."
"But they're speculating about you! They're saying you're in Red Squadron and talking about your career in DEVGRU. Doesn't that bother you?" she asked, worried.
Jacob shook his head. "That's something I've already accepted. They can speculate all they want, but they can only find out what's already public. My history in Red Squadron isn't a top secret, it's just not something I advertise."
Khloé took a deep breath, relieved, but still worried about the repercussions.
The next day, major news outlets began to cover the issue. Headlines like "Khloé Kardashian's Boyfriend Has Impressive Military Record" and "Jacob Ward: Former Red Squadron Operator and Khloé's Current Date" began to appear.
Among military personnel and veterans, the reaction was one of respect. On Reddit, the discussions took a more serious tone:
"It's amazing to see someone like Jacob Ward get recognition. He seems to have served honorably and is now living his life. Total respect."
However, there were also curious people who tried to find out more about Jacob's missions, which he quickly avoided commenting on.
That night, as they relaxed in the living room, Khloé couldn't help but bring up the subject again.
"I didn't mean for this to happen, Jake. I'm so sorry.
Jacob held her hand, reassuring her. "There's no need to apologize, love. I knew what I was getting myself into when I came into your life. And to be honest, I don't mind people knowing about my military past."
She looked at him in surprise. "It really doesn't?"
Jacob shrugged. "No. They know what they can know. The rest is up to me and my squad brothers. I'm not ashamed of what I did, Khloé. But right now my priority is you, True, Tatum, and our life together."
Khloé smiled, touching his face. "I'm so lucky to have you."
Jacob chuckled. "I'm the lucky one."
In the days that followed, Khloé realized that Jacob's past was something he embraced with pride, but without arrogance. She grew to admire even more his strength, humility, and ability to deal with situations that would make her anxious.
She decided to wear the Red Squadron patch on her purse as a symbol of the respect she had for him and everything he stood for. While Jacob may not have been a man who sought the spotlight, he knew that being with Khloé sometimes meant dealing with the public's curiosity.
In the end, the two realized that despite the speculation and attention, what mattered was the connection and love they shared. After all, Jacob's past was just part of the story that made him the incredible man he was.
