The next day
" Lizzy how long has it been since we left the Count's house." I said in a exhausted voice.
" One week Miss" she also said in an exhausted voice.
"And where are we now?"
"We are in the Meek forest now. We still have a Four day journey to reach the Dead Man Land and another six to seven day till we get to Raven crest Miss." Lizzy said.
The journey begun smoothly in the beginning but before we got on the road, Ajax stood in front of the carriage with that freaky smile on his face.
One week ago
"Why you here Ajax?" I said in an irritating tone. Him standing with is raven black hair that touched his shoulders, pale skin, all black suit and his hands clasped behind him.I stopped in front of him and looked up, waiting for his answer but nothing. I started to get irritated of the still lifeless smile.
"Ajax!?"
" First we say good morning to a person, that is proper etiquette. Come now Little Flame you didn't grow up under a rock." He said still smiling.
I scrunched up my face at the nick name. "What did you call-"
" Come now, Seraphina" He said as he cut me off.
'That smile, why is he smiling so much. Ajax never paid attention to me in my past life. I never even saw his face. Now he just standing here and smiling with his head tilted to the side… I think his playing a game. No, I don't want to play in Ajax games his games are…'
" Little Flame I'm waiting. Will you make your favourite brother waiting in the cold air" he said in a unsettling sweet voice.
" Favourite what!Ah! You know what. Fine! Good morning Ajax, now what do you want. Also what's with the nick name"
" You like it!" He said in excitement. His ocean blue green eyes sparkling.
It took me aback at his pure joy expression making me answer without thinking.
" Eh…Yea whatever…so why are you here?"
" Yes ok…" Ajax cleared his throat then " Good morning Little Flame, I have come here to give you the food chef cooked for your journey."
"What?!"
" Yes, here and I also made a little something for you to eat with."
I turned to see the overly large case of food at the back of the carriage. My eyes wide at the load and I turned back to face Ajax in anger and disbelief.
"What the hell is this!?The food Lizzy told the chef to made was for two weeks. This!" I said pointing at the over size luggage." Is for a months worth of food. What must I do with that?"
" I know but I told the chef to make more for you and also what if you get there and there is no food for you to buy."
" What? That-"
" Sera, don't question me. You know I'm right so take the food and go. This is one of many gifts I must give to you."
" Why? you never cared before."
" Don't you see Little Flame. You are my one and only beloved sister."
" Ajax, I know you. You don't waste time on people like me."
" No! Little Flame, I don't waste time on greedy, soul sucking idiots that think they are superior to other but are just a waste of flesh. You are not that." He said, still smiling his shark like grin.
As I was about to say more a tanned man with a luggage sack and knight gear come up to us and stop we all turned to look at him.
"Good morning, I was told I been transferred under Miss Seraphina Dox. Is that you?"
'Brandon.' I thought as I smiled.
" Yes and you don't call my Little Flame by her name knight understood." Ajax said in an irritated tone as he looked up and down at Brandon like he was dirt under his shoe.
" Eh… sorry Miss I didn't mean disrespect I just-"
"It's fine Sir Brandon and don't worry about him. His just a psychopath. Now please let Lizzy show you where to put your bags and where to set. We will be leaving soon."
Brandon shock at the words I spoke about Ajax as his looked between the both of us. The I turned to look at Lizzy.
" Lizzy, please help Sir Brandon to put his luggage."
Lizzy walked up to him and Sir Brandon green eyes widen at Lizzy as she smiled up at him. 'Im glad that didn't change. I will make sure Lizzy spends time with Sir Brandon. At least one couple deserves a true happy ending.' I thought.
" That's the knight you choose. You know we have better knights."
" I don't care Ajax, I don't want them. He will do fine." I said. I turned back and faced Ajax and saw that he was looking at me with…worry. 'Ok this is officially weird, Ajax is showing emotions towards me.' I thought with a surprise look. 'What is happening here?'
"Write to me when you arrive. I will come and visit before the end of the summer. No Mans Land is far." He said in a casual tone.
Shock came over me.
" HOW DID YOU!!…"
" Your maids mouth is loud."
"Wait… you were eavesdropping" I said in rage as I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"You know how close our rooms are Little Flame." He smiled mischievously
"NO THEY NOT! Your room is on the west wing of the house I'm on the far east."
"That doesn't matter now.You must go." He said as he pushes me into the carriage. He opened the door and helped her in and closed the door.
"Be safe,Little Flame" he said with a smile and this time his smile was… real. Angry as I was I still wanted to know one thing.
"Why do you call me that Ajax?" I said in a sincere tone.
He looked at me, smile gone then said " Because you did something." Then he smiled again closing the door next moment the carriage pushed forward. Ajax stood there on the side of the road in the cold foggy air all alone as he got smaller and smaller the the fog made him disappear.
