Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Fall And Rise Of The Chaos Sovereign

---

The sky grew dark as thunders rumbled like those of heavenly tribulation. A laugh that shook the heavens spread across the seas.

Tang Feng stood in the air, his presence commanding. Chaos energy crackled around him as countless cultivators, sect masters, and ancestors surrounded him. He looked at his wife, lifeless below him, his face darkening as he gazed at the figures above him.

A celestial emperor, Tianzong, with a piercing gaze, roared with a voice that echoed, "Tang Feng, it's over!"

He looked around and spotted the ancestors of the Element Mountain Peaks—Mu Long of Thunder Mountain Peak, Xing Nan of Ice Mountain Peak, Luo Ming of Fire Mountain Peak, and Su Ja of Wind Mountain Peak.

"You all choose to defy this sovereign?" Tang Feng said, pointing two of his fingers at the figures above him.

Luo Ming laughed, his hand covering his face. "What sovereign? You're just a man who happened to have some ability."

Mu Long stood with his hands behind him, looking down at Tang Feng, and said, "Tang Feng, you're my old friend, so as long as you give me the Chaos Technique, I will let you go. Otherwise, don't blame me for not remembering old feelings."

Tang Feng laughed. "Old feelings? What rubbish old feelings? You, whom I considered my friend, conspired with the other ancestors of the Element Mountain Peaks to use my wife and take this technique from me..."

He laid his wife slowly on the floor and whispered, "Meng'er, I'll be back."

Then, he brought out a black double-scroll with golden patterns on it, staggering as he stood up, ready to destroy it.

Tang Feng knew that nobody could practice the Chaos Technique, but he couldn't just give it to them. He looked at his disciples behind him.

"Take Meng'er inside first," he said as he closed his eyes and activated the Devourer Technique, a forbidden technique lost to ancient times.

The ancestors and even the celestial emperor rushed to stop him from destroying the technique. Tang Feng laughed, his teeth stained with blood as the scroll began to crack.

"NO!" they all screamed, but Tang Feng laughed harder.

A sword cut Tang Feng's laughter short as it passed through his back. The technique was disrupted, giving Mu Long the chance to grab the scroll, but by then, it was nothing but a pile of ash.

All their faces darkened as they stared at the ash.

Tang Feng looked at the person who had stabbed him—it was Song Qingwu, his prized disciple. She had closed her eyes shut and remained that way.

Tang Feng realized it wasn't her doing.

As he held the sword, another one stabbed him from the front. Just like that, he was constantly being stabbed, but he had a menacing smile—one that he directed at his friend, Mu Long.

"Hahaha! I, Tang Feng, will never forget this grievance today. I will return! Chaos will re—"

Mu Long didn't let him finish. He cut off his head, watching it fall and roll on the floor until it faced him.

The thunders roared, and the heavens shook as Tang Feng's body stood impaled by a thousand swords.

His soul wandered in the void as he muttered, "So this is where my story ends. Tang Feng, Chaos Supreme, the man who conquered all, that even the heavens dared not provoke… has been reduced to such a state."

He laughed, his laughter echoing in the void.

His soul was protected by his Spirit Sphere Treasure. He sat cross-legged and concentrated, activating the Hundred Recovery Mantra Chant, when all of a sudden, a golden ball floating through the void penetrated the sphere and entered his body.

Tang Feng was still concentrating when he heard a voice in his head.

"System Initializing... Analyzing host."

He couldn't understand what the voice said, but he felt strangely comfortable.

"Detecting no response from host soul... Warning ⚠️ Soul incompatible with Chaos Sovereign System... Activating Soul Reconstruction."

Tang Feng suddenly opened his eyes. His entire body was in pain, and he couldn't think straight. He saw his soul emitting a dark glow that brought sharp pain to him.

"Soul Reconstruction complete... Analyzing host's soul core... Host core is compatible with Chaos Core. Warning! Chaos Core critically damaged... Proceeding to fusion with host's core."

Just when Tang Feng thought the pain was over, he was suddenly overwhelmed by a new wave. This time, it felt like his meridians were being pierced with countless needles at the same spot.

He screamed as his dantian glowed furiously, his abdomen heating up. The pain was so unbearable that Tang Feng almost lost consciousness.

"Fusion complete... Stabilizing new core," the voice in his head said as the pain subsided.

He began breathing heavily, but the voice continued.

"Analyzing host power levels... Host critically weakened... Restoring core abilities... Activating... Chaos Sovereign System Activated."

Tang Feng was convinced that the voice in his head wanted to harm him. He was about to self-destruct his soul when he suddenly began feeling warm, his soul slowly filling with strength.

He looked at both his arms, closing and opening his palms.

"Searching for a suitable body to transfer host... Suitable vessel located. Activating Soul Transfusion."

Tang Feng listened intently until the voice in his head grew silent. He was about to investigate when all of a sudden, a void gate appeared in front of him.

Tang Feng couldn't steer his sphere, nor did he know what was behind the gate. He closed his eyes as his soul entered.

---

It was a peaceful evening in the Danzhou Dynasty. Several villagers engaged in trade, and children roamed around with crackers and candies in their hands.

A big crack appeared in the sky. Several villagers looked up, pointing as Tang Feng's soul emerged from it.

The system had put Tang Feng in a comatose state to hasten his recovery and take full control over him. The wandering soul flew into the forest, searching for the vessel it had located earlier.

It flew across countless ancient creatures—a deer with fire and ice crystal antlers, a spider-wolf, a dancing peacock, its golden glow forming a path that faded almost immediately.

The system had located the vessel by the trunk of a tree, but it was being approached by a spider-wolf.

Just as the wolf prepared to pounce on its prey, the soul entered the lifeless body. Almost immediately, the body moved its hand, grabbing the wolf by the throat and looking at it fiercely as Tang Feng's new eyes glowed.
