Chapter 8: Where Is The Void Emperor Skeleton Senior?
Tang Feng was on his knees, 'the pressure from a Void Emperor is indeed extraordinary, I can't even move. If I were to face such a monster, I have absolutely no chance of winning. I'll even be lucky if I can leave with all my limbs intact', he thought struggling with all of his strength just to stay on his feet.
The void emperor was at the top of a pile of gold coins and he sat suspended in air, sitting crosslegged. One of his hands, (now skeletal) was held in a prayer like form, while the other one was laid on his lap. An insignia was inscribed at his back, indicating how long he had died.
Tang Feng struggled to stay on his feet, the pressure intensified fourfold and he went down on his knees, his face stiff, with veins popping out from his neck. He looked at the skeleton under the immense pressure, "Who was this senior, and why is he here?", Tang Feng asked.
At that moment, he saw that the skeleton had the same clothes that Lin Zhang wore earlier, and that was when he realized that this skeleton must have been the guardian of this place in the past. 'Celestial pavilion sect really is ruthless and domineering. They have the capital to place a void emperor as a guard', Tang Feng thought to himself.
He looked at the skeleton and began gathering his chi, allowing him to slowly and temporarily resist the immense pressure. He slowly took one step forward, and it felt as if he was being pierced by a thousand needles. He took another one forward, and it took almost everything he had. Just like that, he kept taking one step after another, until he got past the region that was under the void emperor's pressure.
Tang Feng was panting, when he had gotten to where the void emperor was. His legs gave out and he landed on all fours, spitting out a huge amount of blood. His entire body was hot, and screaming in pain,
Tang Feng knew that Su Yan would take countermeasures to heal this pain he was currently feeling but he didn't want that, at least not this time, 'Su Yan, stop. Don't take this pain away, let me feel it and use it to temper my body', Tang Feng said in thought, still on the ground,
Tang Feng breathed out a sigh of relief, and sat down cross-legged next to the skeleton of the void emperor to meditate and consolidate his cultivation. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes and focusing his mind, which was still chaotic from the pressure earlier. He stayed in that position for a minute, rotating his hands from time to time.
As Tang Feng was about to open his eyes, he felt something was nearby, so he tried reaching out to grab it, but it was far beyond his grasp, despite it being so close.
"What is that?", He asked himself, thinking he might be able to tell what it was he was sensing, but he couldn't if he could barely see it.
He was only able to see a ball of blue light that looked liked water ripples when seen up close, his curiosity only grew the more he looked at it, but after trying for so long, he was aware of his limits and he knew that he does not possess the strength to peek into the light before him. So he slowly turned around and walked away from the light.
After walking five steps, he whispered, "I'll be back", and with that, he walked away, the light which was a full glowing ball of light, began dimming slowly till it was nothing but a flicker, like a star in the night sky.
Tang Feng opened his eyes, looking around him and realizing his body was much lighter than before. So he decided to check this status:
"What? I broke through and crossed two great levels in one go?",
he held his chin with one of his hand, still trying to take it all in. He decided to check his skills and techniques while he was at it:
"Thank you, but I still can't believe it. Or is it the pressure from the Void Emperor that helped me break through multiple levels? Hahaha, the pressure of a void emperor is indeed extraordinary, just enduring the pressure for a while was enough to make him breakthrough several great levels."
He laughed in excitement and turned around hastily to thank the skeleton of the void emperor. He clasped his clenched fist with his open palm and bent his head, all while on his knees,
"Senior, Thank you for your guidance and for helping me breakthrough. Junior is grateful and pays respect to senior",
he said, unclasping his hands and bowing three times as a show of respect, but when he raised his head to look at the skeleton, he realized he was actually saluting a ghost, as there was nothing there.
"What? Where did the skeleton of the void emperor senior go?", he asked, looking around,
"I absorbed it? What do you mean, Su Yan? Speak clearly", Tang Feng ordered, wondering how he subconsciously absorbed the skeleton of a void emperor,
Tang Feng nodded his head in understanding,
"What if I had absorbed all the energy?", Tang Feng asked,
Tang Feng was unresponsive for a moment after Su Yan's reply,
'Thank you Su Yan', Tang Feng said, but this time, he said it telepathically.
Tang Feng decided to use the remaining chi energy in his chaos core to consolidate his cultivation, So he sat back down cross-legged and concentrated his mind.
