Chapter 7: Remnants of a Void Emperor
Tang Feng couldn't find a way out of the mist, and half a stick of incense had passed. He couldn't make heads or tails of the eye of this formation, not when he didn't know what it was. He decided to try something. Sitting down cross-legged, Tang Feng closed his eyes and held his hands in an upside-down O shape right on his abdomen. He concentrated and tried gathering chi from the surroundings, but he felt nothing. He also tried entering his knowledge sea again, but he was yet again denied access. Tang Feng was extremely frustrated, and it distracted him, breaking his focus in the process.
He slowly opened his eyes, looking around the mist. That was when he realized that he had a technique that could analyze formations and arrays. "Hidden Sight," he said, and his eyes emitted a glow for a moment before returning to normal. When they did, Tang Feng was able to see beyond the mist more clearly. He looked around and saw the landscape clearly. He also noticed that he was able to see the treasury quite clearly now. Tang Feng walked over to the entrance, guided by 'Hidden Sight'. Holding a stance with one foot in front of the other and one of his hands tucked in, Tang Feng concentrated all his chi into his tucked fist, causing it to emit a purple glow. After which, he yelled and threw his fist at the door, "Now Break!" he said, punching the huge door with all of the strength he could muster.
The array was unfazed for a while, but it started cracking when Tang Feng yelled, allowing the dormant power that lay in his chaos core to flow through his meridians and envelope his body. Slowly, the cracks widened and widened until finally, a glass-like appearance shattered, revealing the bare door. Tang Feng was breathing heavily, a clear sign he was beginning to get exhausted. Using the chaos core had taken quite a toll on his body, and it brought with it a strain on his mental health. Tang Feng walked up to the door, placing both his hands on it and pushing with all of his remaining strength. He was groaning and squeezing his face to efficiently apply his strength to his hands and force open the door.
The door seemed to move a bit, causing dust to fall from the top. It made a slight sound as it slid open, revealing an extraordinary room that glittered and glowed from gold and silver coins as far as the eyes could see—some in heaps, some in treasure boxes. There were also a lot of emerald gems, sky crystals, heavenly taixu crystals, ancient treasures, lots of minerals, and secret techniques scattered all over the place. Tang Feng smiled cockily. He was indeed right. He walked inside, looking around.
"
"Su Yan, what happened?" he asked nonchalantly as he continued looking around, seemingly searching for something.
"" Su Yan stated.
"Then it's good," he simply said.
Tang Feng was searching for a storage ring so he could take some things with him, but he couldn't find any since rings were apparently too small to see with all the glittering distracting his sight and attention. Not to mention the fact that the room was too big for him to find a lot of rings all by himself.
"Su Yan, I want you to search for any rings lying around and take me there," Tang Feng said.
"
While Su Yan was still searching for more rings, Tang Feng noticed a sparkly object at a distance, so he decided to check out what it was. When he got closer, he saw four eggs, all of which were of different sizes and colors. The smallest size was actually not that small, and it was white in color. The next one was a bit bigger and had a dark-green color. The last two were almost the same size—it was a little tricky for Tang Feng to tell them apart. They were the largest of all the eggs and had colors silver and red. The four eggs lay side by side, resting on a pile of gold coins.
"Su Yan, can you identify what is inside these eggs?" Tang Feng asked, standing with his hands on his chin.
"
"Oh... is that true?" he said, but this time from his lips. "Then that would mean they will be extraordinary when they grow up."
Su Yan also told Tang Feng that although each of the eggs emitted a strong life force, the density of it varied because of the difference in their bloodlines. Tang Feng pondered if he should take the eggs. If he did, what would he do with them? They could sell for a good price, but he had enough money to last him his entire life. He thought of keeping them with the aim of raising whatever creatures emerged from the shells. Though they might prove to be difficult to bring along, Tang Feng was willing to take the risk. After all, "A firefly's glow is not enough to light up the night."
Tang Feng took the eggs and laid them on a wide space at the corner of the room. He also spread out all of the rings he was able to pick up until now.
"Su Yan, group the rings according to their abilities," he said. He already knew the total rings were 35, but he still wasn't able to see the storage ring that he initially sought. After Su Yan grouped the rings, Tang Feng found out that all the rings were extremely useless to him, so he threw them out and only took the eggs with him. Since they were huge, carrying all four of them proved to be a challenge even when he used his mental strength to lift them up.
Tang Feng was walking with the eggs floating when he came across a pile of gold with a skeleton at the top. "What is that?" he asked himself. He dropped the eggs at a safe corner and began climbing up the pile. When he got closer to the skeleton, it suddenly released its chi pressure, and it sent Tang Feng flying down to the base of the pile. His eyes widened midair as he said in surprise, "V...Void Emperor?"
