The abilities were founded centuries ago after the first human war against an alien race; this day was documented as the excellent human change; later, humans discovered that all abilities were not on the same level and were different from person to person.
The scientists of the new era decided to study humans through the advanced technology of their era; they later figured out that humans have energy cells that are called "ENergy reserves." the energy reserves vary from person to person, But even if a person has a tremendous amount of energy it doesn't mean they can practice them all at once.
Centuries have passed since this discovery, and humans quickly created a hierarchy based on each person's combination of energy reserves and ability.
The top government created a ranking system between humans, ranging from FFF to SSS.
The system indicated the energy reserves and ability of one person. Still, the military saw this system as flawed because the ability could have a low energy reserve but also have a strong ability and be a skilled fighter. The system wanted to develop its power ranking skills. So, they created a way to determine one person's ability and skills, and later, they decided to keep this information to themselves.
Not too long ago, a new evolution appeared. The first person, during the fight with the Simians, was recorded. His ability output completely changed. He was a teleporter, but soon after, he accidentally shot out a blast that teleported and hones its target. He was teleporting his blast, making him a problematic fighter to fight,
The scientists tried to study the person, and they later found out he had two separate energy reserves matching the first amount he already had. But when he activated his energy, they mixed, creating a completely new ability; they couldn't find out how to use the ability separately, but they later just added notes as a mystery that needed to be solved,
They tried to teach this to others, but they learned that you have to have no ability to learn them all at once, to have multiple energies, or to evolve into this. Not many people evolved; the ways to learn abilities were by family members, being born with one, or by an ability book.
Centuries after the war, people started recording ways to use their abilities and selling them on the market because they needed more currency; this new war of living tipped the scale of abilities, giving them a new rank from most excellent to least potent.
From then on, the government gave the book and CDs a ranking system generating from E to A rank; the S-ranked to SSS-ranked abilities were kept to themselves and kept in the family or clan, meaning Stronger abilities existed without the knowledge of the abilities existing.
After the recent appearance of the simians, Erie's parents disappeared, and he was left to live in the City of Orphans, which kicked him out. Erie lacked money to buy CDs or books, and his family, from what he knew wasn't unique, was never around him too much anyway; they always seemed too busy to spend time with him.
His mother gave Erie a pendant before she disappeared, and now he seems to have obtained a weird ability, even though he had never heard of it before he read about "Systems" in manga books. The pendant disappeared after he received the system. He just put it off that the pendant fused with him, and his heart was now a pendant.
Erie looked around and saw the boards hovering above each training field. He had a watch that just displayed his name and grade level; it was blank, with no color and no number. "Is this one of those watches that shows power levels?" he thought.
The instructor who announced how the evaluation worked stood in the middle of the field's eries session. He was calling out names on the intercom. Each student with the name listed on the board would be transported inside the field, and Erie was the first to vanish and reappear.
Erie thought the military could give him that ability, but he had other things to worry about. A status screen popped up in his view.
"Sleep deprivation"
"All of your stats are not being viewed."
"Please mediate in sunlight for 30m to gain sufficient energy to reduce state decrease."
Erie knew his stats had been cut. He didn't know how good he was compared to other students; all he knew was that whatever grade he got would be half the grade shown. At this moment, Erie felt tired and weak due to the lack of sleep he had gotten last night.
Erie's body felt heavy, and he was panting hard. He looked like he was about to fall over from exhaustion. According to his system, his energy level was currently at 40 percent, "I feel like I ran a mile." he claimed.
"Hey? dude, you look sick? Do you need to lie down for a minute?" someone asked, standing right behind him.
The guy asked if he was around the same height as Erie. The person had Straight black and blue hair and crystal blue eyes, which seemed to change to black in the sun. He stood straight at Erie as he wavered in front of him. He was the type of person who would make remarks about Erie being an orphan. He seemed to like to be the popular guy in the town or school.
"Do you need some water?" the strand asked. My ability draws water from the air, so I can give you natural water."
He waved his hand, and water formed before Erie, but Erie refused to drink it. "It's okay; I'm just tired. I didn't sleep at all last night." Erie then tried to fix his posture so he could stand up straight. He felt the effect hitting him again, almost like it was magical.
The Stranger studied Erie with a mix of curiosity and concern. He could see that Erie was struggling, his frail frame and dehydrated skin not going unnoticed. It was clear to the Stranger that Erie didn't quite fit in with the healthier-looking crowd around them, and he had an uneasy feeling that the boy might become a target for bullying in this harsh environment. "Of course, he would deny it; he doesn't even know me." he thought.
Erie sighed because he knew he was going to get a lower level. He didn't know how the city graded the trainers, but he knew he was going to get the lowest rank.
"Hey, no need to be nervous!" the boy said. "I'm quite talented, so if anyone messes with you, they have to go through me, okay?" the Stranger said, smiling. Eerie side glanced at the boy but couldn't understand why this guy was being so nice to him.
Erie never really got along with anyone. The only person he knew was Alex, but Alex was in a different section. For some reason, the guy was so nice to him that he couldn't help but like and accept the person in front of him.
"My name is Gene!" the boy finally said. He placed his hand on Erie's shoulder and smiled.
Erie looked at Gene, noticing that his eyes had changed from blue to black and his hair had laminated from blue to black as he moved in the sun.
Erie stepped back because his system notified him.
"Hybrids have been detected."
"Please level up to determine Hyvrid."
Erie stepped away from Gene, and he stared at him in disbelief. He didn't want to say his race out loud because he didn't want to be killed on the spot. Gene looked puzzled and concerned as Erie stepped away from him. "What's wrong?" he said
"I... " Erie hesitated because he didn't know if it was a good idea to get close to this stranger. But the guy was nice to him, so he decided to tell him his name: " I'm Erie."
Gene smiled as his eyes turned back to blue. "I'm guessing you do not have any ability?" Erie paused and looked again. "No, " he said again. "No, I don't."
Gene nodded, but he stared at Errie for a while. He was curious about Errie and who he was, but before Gene could ask another question, the instructor announced the names that had been called before.
"Next group! Erie Sunhewart!, Gene gane! LIlly Moonlight!. Come to the center! It's time for your test!"
