Erie and the other heard their names called. Each student walked to the centerpiece of the field, where the Instructor stood. He was waiting for them, looking around at the other students.
Aside from Erie and Gene, they noticed a student was transferred from another field. A student materialized in front of Erie and Gene; he stood around 6 foot 4, with brown hair and brown eyes. His face had soft features, and he looked determined to be there. "Alex?" erie looked up and called out. Alex turned around and looked at Erie. "Hey, Erie!" he said excitedly. Gene looked at Alex in pity. "This guy must be another orphan." he began to think to himself. He couldn't help but notice the guy's skinny, frailed body, "He has vibrant hair, though." Gene thought to himself.
Lilly, another group member, was tall for a girl but still slightly shorter than Erie. She wielded dual blades that glowed with a golden hue. Her hair was black and wavy, but it appeared to have been dyed, as the beginning part of her hair was orange. Almost every group member carried a weapon, knowing that these weapons complemented their abilities. However, few opted for dual blades, indicating Lilly was a close-combat fighter.
Close-combat fighters had some enhancement ability. Blades or new armor were created to protect them from harm. However, this is rare nowadays because finding a good set is complicated or too expensive to buy in the market. Another way to get them was to join a guild called the Rebellers. It was a group of fighters without abilities who were treated as outcasts, so they decided to create their own guild and fight against the bigger guild.
Lilly was the type to attract everyone around her, including other females. She stood perfectly with the perfect body and demeanor. Her Stature stood tall, and her body language was firm. The only issue she had was that she never talked to anyone. No matter who tries to talk to her, she ignores them as if the person doesn't exist. People were beginning to think she was either deaf or mute. As she walked to the center, the other students stared and tried to speak to her, but she ignored them all and stared vigorously ahead of her.
Eerie didn't recognize anyone around him as he stepped to the front of the center field. They were all from the city, and he was from the outer part of the city called West Orphanage Village; since they all had the same uniform, they couldn't tell who came from where. However, there was still a difference that dramatically set them apart. "I look so skinny compared to them, even after the system buffed me up a little.":
Gene walked to Lilly and tried to greet her as he did with Erie and Alex. As he greeted Lilly, he smiled, "Hi! I'm Gene! " He looked her way and smiled towards her. She stared straight, waiting to hear instructions from the Instructor who sat in the chair in front.
He looked back at Erie and Alex, chatting away. "Hey, did you hear me? I said, Hey, I am Gene!" he said louder. He tried to grab her to get her attention,
But before he touched her, she seemed to have teleported, and Gene almost fell, "Whoa, did she teleport?" Gene thought out loud. The play was set on the board that hovered above the field.
"Hey, what was that?" a boy said
"I don't think that was teleportation. what was that?"
"I don't know, but she looks scary. Look at her eyes!"
Several students murmured at the sight of Lilly using her ability to keep Gene from touching her.
The instructor looked at the two. "Knock it off and pay attention! I'm getting ready to call the first person. We are waiting for arrangements to be finished!" he said aloud.
Lilly rolled her eyes and appeared beside the Instructor with her arms folded while the blades remained on her back; Erie could not help but shake his head at Gene. "Seriously, this guy is too friendly."
Gene walked back towards Erie and Alex. "Did you see what she did? She just disappeared!"
"Look at her demeanor gene; everyone isn't as open as you are," Erie said
"Well, I saw what she did. She's lucky I didn't show her who was faster !"
Everyone heard him over the board, and people began to stare at him for what he said. Lilly received admiration from people by the hundreds, even in the second year.
Looking at the screen from the inside, he could tell that people were staring at Gene for trying to touch Lilly; Erie stepped back from Gene as the camera was focused on Gene. Erie didn't want to be included in their target of people murmuring threats about the altercation.
Finally, someone else was teleported to the back of the group. Still, Erie never noticed him, and they were finally called to the front.
"Great, my name is Private Carl! But you can call me Carl!
They all stepped up towards the center before the private, listening intently to what he had to say.
"This guy is known for his fusion ability," he whispered behind Erie. "He can use purple lightning!" erie moved his hand to his ear because Gene was standing close to Erie.
Private Carl stepped to the side and pointed at the energy core floating in the platform's middle. He then began to explain what the core did, but this time, he called someone from the second year to demonstrate.
" As I said before, the glowing core in the center will tell us how many energy cells you all have. All you have to do is touch it, allow it to draw energy from you, and it'll glow intently. " Carl then whistled aloud, "Jeremy!" A student materialized in front of them. Now, Jeremy here will demonstrate how this works. Go ahead and touch the core, please."
Jeremy walked up to the core and placed his hands on it. The core glew a bright red. Carl nodded and signaled for Jeremy to release the core. "Everyone's color won't be the same; it's completely ability-based. Depending on your ability, it'll glow a specific color. And if you don't have an ability, it'll glow without color."
"Now!" Carl announced. Jake! You up first." Erie looked around him to find the person. "Who is Jake?" A boy with snow-white hair and crystal-green eyes walked between Alex and Erie. He bumped into them, getting to the centerpiece of the core. "What was that about?" Erie wondered. He placed his hand on the core, and the core glew Pure white and grey.
Carl smiled. "It looks like we have a fusion on our hands." He smiled and handed Jake a golden ribbon. Make sure you tie this to your arm. You'll learn more about this in your homeroom!" he said aloud.
He walked back behind everyone, holding his head down. "He doesn't seem excited at all, "Gene said over Erie's shoulder. Erie looked back at Gene because he was standing too close to Erie.
"Next up! Lilly!" Lilly appeared in front of the core, placing her hand, and a dark white and silver glew from the core. Private Carl smiled and grew puzzled. "That's not a teleportation color?" he wrote something down on his tablet and looked at Lilly again. She handed her a gold ribbon, "Place this on your arm, Lilly, and we will explain what it means in your homeroom later." She then vanished back in front of Erie, Alex, and Gene.
"UP Next! Gene Gane! " Gene looked back at Erie and smiled. "Wish me a look, guys!" he walked up to the core and touched it. But the core didn't glow. It remained a solid clear coat. "Huh?" Gene said aloud. Private Carl announced you don't have an ability?" Gene looked at Carl in disbelief. "UGGH, I don't know, sir?" he walked up to Gene and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry; it's good, which means you can learn any ability." He then handed Gene a bronze ribbon. "Please, put this on your arm! And we will explain what It means in your homeroom class!" Gene walked back to Erie and Alex.
"Hey, maybe the core couldn't pick up your energy signature?" Erie asked, then looked back at Gene. Hey, don't worry; I know I have an ability; who cares about some dumb old core they use?" he said out loud. Alex nodded and looked at Erie, "Why does this guy keep talking to you?"
Before Erie could answer, he was called, "Next up, Erie Sunheart!"
