Kino led Mephisto out of the underground cavern, preparing to return to the castle. Throughout the journey, Mephisto remained silent.
Upon arriving at Mephisto's castle, Kino began gathering his demons in preparation for departure.
Before long, a group of demons with grotesque and varied appearances assembled before Kino in an orderly manner.
"Young Master, can we take these with us?"
"Hulk likes pets. Take them to Milan and Dala."
Over time, Hulk had learned to speak properly.
Abomination and Hulk each held a three-meter-tall demon wolf in their hands. However, the creatures whimpered in fear, resembling nothing more than frightened puppies.
"You can take them, but make sure they don't harm anyone."
As Abomination and Hulk dragged their "pets" through the portal, Kino turned to Basa and asked, "Where is Xi?"
"I'm not sure, Your Majesty. She disappeared not long after the battle began," Basa replied with a bewildered expression.
"Young Master, I'm back."
Xi's voice rang out as she briskly walked out of the castle, followed by a group of demons adorned with gold and jewels. They carried two large, round objects with extreme care.
The two demons, originally slender, were now stuffed to the brim with treasure, looking as if they might burst at any moment.
Xi approached Kino, who was now fully dressed, her eyes flashing with a hint of disappointment.
"What's all this on you?" Kino asked, baffled by her golden appearance and the two spherical demons behind her, who were being carried like treasure chests.
He didn't recall having such obese demons in his domain. Had their diet been too good lately?
"We found this hell's treasury. Your plan requires a lot of money, but these two demons were too useless to carry it all," Xi pouted in dissatisfaction.
The space demon and devouring demon, bloated beyond recognition, rolled their eyes in distress but dared not speak. This woman was more terrifying than any demon.
Mephisto merely glanced at them before looking away, secretly scoffing. Ordinary treasures? How utterly ignorant these demons were.
"You worked hard, Xi," Kino said with a gentle smile, patting her head softly.
Though this treasure was a mere drop in the ocean for his grand plans, he appreciated her sincerity.
"Hehe, it wasn't hard at all, Young Master," Xi replied sweetly, her face glowing with happiness.
"You all head back first. I'll discuss your rewards later," Kino instructed.
"Understood, Young Master."
Xi led the treasure-laden demons and the two bloated ones through the portal.
Turning to Mephisto, Kino spoke in an indifferent tone, "Slave, behave yourself for now. Don't wander into the human world unless I summon you."
"Yes, Master," Mephisto responded submissively, bowing his head in complete obedience.
Without another word, Kino stepped through the portal.
Mephisto remained in his bowing posture until Kino's figure completely disappeared. Then, he slowly straightened up, the humility vanishing from his face, replaced by a deep resentment and unwillingness.
His gaze swept across the devastated landscape of hell—collapsed mountains, cracked earth, and demons wailing in misery.
His eyes burned with rage, as if he could incinerate everything in sight.
"I've never suffered such a humiliation. You think a mere contract can bind me? How naive, human," Mephisto sneered, his voice dripping with venom and fury.
Stepping into the treasury, he pushed open the doors—only to cough up blood in sheer anger.
His collection, amassed over countless years, had been ransacked. Only a few worthless piles of gold remained.
"Damn it!!!"
He wanted nothing more than to rush out and kill that human, but the contract forbade it. It wasn't that he couldn't defeat him—of course not.
He walked to the corner of the treasury, lifted a stone slab, and retrieved a black, chain-bound grimoire.
"At least the Contract Book is still here," Mephisto sighed in relief. This book had once been his greatest asset.
Opening it, he chanted an ancient and sinister incantation, his voice echoing through the empty vault like a malevolent whisper.
"Contracts in this world hold power only because of the gods and demons standing behind them. Human, just you wait. I will make you pay dearly for this!"
As the wicked chant continued, black smoke billowed around him. His power surged like a raging current, tracing the mysterious origins of the contract binding him.
A maniacal grin spread across his face, his eyes gleaming with murderous intent.
"If the entity is weak, I will kill it. If it's strong, I will find a way to make it relinquish this contract."
"Human, you're finished. A hell connected to the mortal realm? Every demon lord and dark deity will want you dead to seize control of it."
Mephisto cackled wildly, his laughter reverberating through the ruins of hell, as if he could already see Kino's inevitable demise.
His consciousness and power shot forward like a streak of darkness, traversing the void until he arrived at a barren planet.
The cracked earth was lifeless, with four massive craters marking the land.
The air reeked of decay and death, devoid of any signs of life.
Mephisto surveyed this desolate landscape, his confidence rising.
"This must be the domain of a weak god. No powerful deity would choose such a wretched place to reside."
A sneer curled his lips as his eyes gleamed with greed and cruelty. He was already picturing himself shattering the contract's constraints and regaining his freedom.
"Are you the demon of this world? You bear my contract's mark," a melodious yet eerie voice suddenly echoed through the wasteland.
Mephisto's gaze snapped to the source.
A breathtaking woman stood in the distance, her beauty so striking that even a demon had to acknowledge it.
He cautiously assessed her strength and smirked upon discovering she was weak. Moreover, the aura she emitted perfectly matched the contract's energy.
The woman noticed his probing but merely smiled. Her expression was warm and gentle, yet held an unfathomable mystery.
"So, you're the god behind this contract?" Mephisto asked darkly.
"Yes. Is there something you need?" The woman observed him calmly.
"I order you to release me from this contract, or—"
Before he could finish, the violent storms of the planet suddenly and inexplicably ceased.
Quote of the Chapter:"Never underestimate the power hidden behind silence, for the quietest ones often hold the deadliest storms."
