They looked at each other quietly until Haider spoke, "From now on, you are my wife. You can ask for anything. That's my duty as a husband."
"So please don't say 'thank you', it makes us seem distant," Haider added.
Avril blushed and lowered her head. Her heart was still pounding.
His words left a good impression on Avril. She secretly graded him 80 out of 100. The remaining 20 would depend on his performance in the future.
Avril raised her head and replied in a light tone, "Okay! I got it. I'll try my best too!"
The sunlight shone into Avril's eyes through the window. Haider could clearly see her clear ocean-blue pupils. He suddenly lowered his head and went closer to Avril.
They were so close that Avril could feel his breath once again. Avril closed her eyes nervously.
"What is he going to do? Is he going to kiss me?
Is it a goodbye kiss? Or is it for more intimacy?
No, no, that's too fast! Even if he's handsome, I can't fall in love with him just yet. I haven't moved on from my last relationship." Avril thought to herself.
Just when Avril thought that Haider Evans would kiss her, his sleek hand touched her head. She could feel his slightly cold body temperature through his hand, it was as cold as late autumn weather.
"There's something on your hair."…Avril was speechless.
Did he make such an ambiguous gesture just to pick the dirty things on her hair? That's it?
Haider looked at her teasingly and threw the debris in his hand into the trash bin nearby.
"Well, you could go back to work first. I'll wait for you at the underground parking when you clock out tonight." Haider said. Avril felt as if a load had been lifted off her shoulders. She turned around and left.
"And..." Haider grabbed Avril's collar and said.
"I'll only drink the coffee you make from now on."
Avril nervously returned to her place. She could not calm herself down for a long time.
What did he mean when he said the last few words? Was he telling her that he didn't want Angie to bring him coffee? Avril covered her mouth and snickered.
"Angie, oh, Angie. Looks like you're overestimating Haider's affection towards you!" Avril thought.
"Smack!" A hand slammed onto Avril's desk, disrupting her train of thoughts.
"Avril! Why have you been in Haider's office for so long, and you even leave the blinds down. What did both of you do in there?" Angie questioned in anger. Avril dug her ears and looked around.
"Why are there crows cawing in the middle of such a fine afternoon? What a bad day!"
"Doesn't Angie have any work to do?"
"Can't she just stop picking a fight with people, doesn't she get tired of doing it?", Avril murmured in her heart.
"Hmmph! Deny it all you want!" Angie became smarter now and didn't make a fuss.
"Avril, I finally realized how shameless you are. Doing all you could to get close to Haider just because he is rich and influential? Remember, you were dumped by your fiance. How dare you seduce Haider? If I were you, I would have been too ashamed to show up!" Angie said.
Avril held her breath for a while and replied calmly, "Why didn't I know that you were so good at debating all this time?"
"Does she still think that I'm the Avril whom she could always manipulate?" Avril sneered in her heart.
She lowered her head and looked at Angie disdainfully. Her eyes were so cold.
"If you have the time to get into a fight with me here, why not use the time to start planning for your wedding? Didn't you ask me to be your guest? Okay, I'm waiting for it!" Avril scolded.
Avril secretly shook her head in her heart. Angie was already engaged, and yet she could not let go of Haider? Such a greedy woman!
"Why did I make friends with her before? Was I blind?" Avril thought.
"Avril!" Angie felt attacked, and her face turned red.
Angie sent a message to Jack in the afternoon to break up. She didn't expect that Jack rejected her. In turn, he threatened to disclose their intimate photos and requested to have their wedding as soon as possible.
Angie got so mad and she glared at Avril while grinding her teeth, she said.
"Just wait, Avril! I won't easily let you off I!" Ever since both of them officially ended their friendship, Avril had been standing her own ground.
She didn't want to give in to Angie. No, not even a tad bit!
"Alright! I'll be waiting then!"
Avril was not the type of person who would put up with others.
Now that Angie kept messing with her, she would find a way to get her revenge!
The busy street was lighted up by the street lamps. The dusk had settled. A black Land Rover was shining under the night street lamp while getting stuck in the traffic.
Avril was sitting on the passenger seat. She turned her head to look at the man beside her. The taillights of the car in front shone a red light, and it reflected onto Haider's pupils.
He had fine features, and he faintly looked forward. His suit was casually unbuttoned a little, revealing his sexy collarbone.
He was giving off a lazy but slightly sexy vibe.
"Do I look that good?" A clean and slightly hoarse voice suddenly struck through the silence in the car.
Avril was shocked and quickly gathered her senses. Her pale cheeks were flushed.
God! She was so obsessed with Haider's face. What a shame!
Avril turned her head around awkwardly and cleared her throat.
"Hmm, not bad."
After saying that, she turned her to the window and muttered to herself, "Avril, time to keep your mouth shut!"
Haider's ears moved, and he was laughing with his eyes.
"Do you want to get closer? You would probably give me a higher score if you could see better."
"Ahem! Ahem!!" Avril coughed out loud.
"It's okay. There's no need for that." Avril waved in rejection. She wasn't that obsessed with him, not to that extent! Haider was secretly pleased, but next second he became serious again.
"What's for dinner?" Haider asked. Before Avril could answer, he added " I have prepared a lot of ingredients at home. You could cook anything you like."
Avril's face fell when she heard those words. Her cooking was a total no-no.
However, if that's what Haider wanted, it's not impossible for her to do it. Avril smirked.
"Okay. I will cook whatever you like."
