JANE
I opened my eyes groggily as a faint ringing fell on my ears, but I had to shut my eyes as light from the window flooded my vision. My body felt well rested, as if I had slept peacefully after a very long time.
It was true. Before this, I used to have a very disturbed sleep every night after I woke up from coma. I was always sleepy and tired the whole day, but whenever I actually tried to sleep, I couldn't.
Something clawed at the edges of my mind, waiting to be discovered but I could never reach it and that kept me awake almost every night.
Despite feeling rested, I didn't want to wake up. Slowly opening one eye, I looked at the phone. Thought of cutting the call, cutting all ties with him, and just stay here and forget everything else crept into my mind for a moment before I pushed it down and reached for my phone.
"Yeah," I spoke groggily after swiping the green button.
"Good morning, Doll."
My face contorted into a grimace before I replied, "Good morning."
