Chapter 35 - The Mind Massage

Sorry, I had to redo the chapter. I lost track of one and forgot chapter 36, so now I'm using the original chapter. I thought I forgot something lol.

Kara stretched as she walked through Xavier's mansion, taking in the high ceilings and polished wooden floors. It was a nice place—not exactly the Fortress of Solitude, but still cozy in its own way. She had just finished hanging out with Storm, getting another round of lightning massages, and now she was wandering aimlessly, debating whether she should go grab Rogue for another round of teleportation mischief.

Then, she turned the corner—and there she was.

Jean Grey stood at the end of the hallway, casually leaning against the wall, flipping through a book. Her fiery red hair caught the dim hallway light in a way that almost made it look like it was glowing. Her presence was strangely magnetic, like gravity itself pulled slightly toward her.

The second Jean laid eyes on Kara, something inside her snapped.

Ah. So that's her.

Jean's fingers twitched against the pages of her book as her mind split into multiple layers of thought simultaneously. One part of her observed Kara's easy, carefree stride, her radiant, almost divine presence—an energy unlike anything Jean had ever encountered.

Another part of her—the hunger—felt something else.

Kara's mind wasn't just strong. It was limitless.

A well of infinite energy. An endless feast.

For so long, Jean had fed off the minds of others—mutants, humans, heroes, enemies. She had learned to plant subtle parasites in their subconscious, slowly leeching away their psychic and life force until they faded into nothingness, completely unaware of what had drained them.

She had grown powerful this way. Stronger than Xavier had ever realized.

The Phoenix, her constant companion, her eternal reflection, purred in amusement within the depths of her mind.

"There she is, my love. The one who never ends."

Jean exhaled, closing her book, suppressing the shudder of excitement crawling up her spine.

I need her. I need to taste her.

She plastered on the perfect warm, friendly smile as Kara approached. "You must be the famous Kara."

Kara tilted her head slightly, offering her own easygoing grin. "And you must be Jean Grey. I've heard a lot about you."

Jean's lips curled slightly. "All good things, I hope."

Kara shrugged. "Depends on who you ask."

Jean chuckled, stepping closer. The moment she did, she let the lightest brush of her psychic presence press against Kara's. The contact was instantaneous and euphoric.

A flood of raw, unfiltered power surged into Jean's mind before she even tried to siphon it.

Her breath hitched.

Oh. Oh, this is different.

With everyone else, Jean had to pull, steal, take.

But with Kara, the energy was pouring into her. It was endless.

Kara blinked at her. "You okay? You look kinda flushed."

Jean swallowed hard, forcibly steadying herself. "I—yeah. Just… picking up on something strong from you."

She smiled again, but inside, she was trembling.

If I keep feeding from her, I could become unstoppable.

The Phoenix laughed.

"Then take her, my love. What's stopping you?"

That night, Kara dreamed.

Soft, warm sensations wrapped around her subconscious, almost like silk running along her skin. It wasn't a nightmare, wasn't anything frightening—just something deeply comforting.

A voice whispered—low, soothing, feminine.

She felt a touch, a presence, something entirely new sinking into the depths of her mind. It wasn't aggressive, wasn't forceful—it simply existed, wrapping around her thoughts like a soft embrace.

She woke up with a strange, tingling feeling in her chest. Not bad, not unsettling—just… different.

And the first thing she thought about?

Jean Grey.

Jean sat on her bed, fingers tracing along her lips, smirking.

Kara had felt her.

She had responded.

The first seed had been planted.

And it was only the beginning.

The next morning, Kara ran into Jean again, this time in the mansion's common area.

"You got a sec?" Jean asked, tilting her head.

Kara, still thinking about that weird dream, nodded. "Sure, what's up?"

Jean smiled, projecting the perfect mix of confidence and calm. "I was wondering if you've ever had a psychic mind massage."

Kara blinked. "A what now?"

Jean chuckled. "Think of it like meditation, but more hands-on. I can use my telepathy to help ease tension, clear your mind, and improve your focus. It's great for people who deal with stress or high-intensity battles."

Kara considered it. "Huh. Sounds kinda cool."

Jean leaned in slightly, lowering her voice just enough to add a hint of allure. "You'd be surprised how good it feels."

Kara, intrigued, grinned. "Alright, I'm down."

Jean smirked internally.

Hook. Line. Sinker.

That evening, Jean sat cross-legged behind Kara, her fingers gently pressing against Kara's temples as she channeled waves of psychic energy into her.

Kara sighed, melting under the sensation. "Damn, this is actually really nice."

Jean smirked. "Told you."

She sank deeper into Kara's mind, drinking in the limitless power that pulsed through her subconscious.

The Phoenix laughed in satisfaction.

"Yes, my love. Feed."

Kara hummed, stretching slightly. "You know, Storm just moved in with me. You should come over sometime. Maybe even stay a while."

Jean's smirk widened.

She had planned to manipulate the situation.

But Kara was handing it to her on a silver platter.

She leaned forward slightly, letting her breath brush against Kara's ear.

"You sure? You might get addicted to this."

Kara chuckled, eyes closed. "I dunno. I think I could handle it."

Jean's eyes darkened slightly. "Oh, we'll see."

She had her place now.

And soon?

She'd have everything else.
