"What are you saying? How could I possibly hear the canary?" She feigned innocence, but her denial only intrigued Rowan further.
His eyes gleamed with curiosity, though he didn't press the matter. Instead, he cast a glance toward the door.
"I know you can...and soon, I'll figure out how," he said before rising from his seat and vanishing into the shadows.
